Overlinking

edit

Why is Peter Robinson linked six times in the infobox? Once is enough. Gob Lofa (talk) 18:17, 6 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

First Minister 'in office'

edit

The title in the bar on the right of the page, showing Ms Foster as First Minister of Northern Ireland and 'In Office' is incorrect, as is shown by the end date below - she has not been First Minister since January 2017. I don't want to start a troll war by changing this, but if the page is to be locked down, perhaps this could be amended to 'Head of the DUP' and Ms Foster's position as First Minister be relegated to its correct position as a former title? This is important because journalists and others are being misled - Northern Ireland currently has no devolved government, but from this Wikipedia it appears incorrectly that the devolved government is in operation and Ms Foster is at its head. (The Northern Irish Assembly was dissolved because her party refuses to implement the Irish Language Act, which is part of the Good Friday Agreement.) McGuinness resignation

edit

The text regarding McGuinness' resignation as deputy First Minister was violative of synthesis at least, and has been reworded. McGuinness cited Paul Givan's cutting funding for the Líofa Gaeltacht scam, er scheme, as the reason, or at least the "straw that broke the camel's back". Also the fact that he was battling a life-threatening illness should hardly be overlooked. Quis separabit? 21:28, 23 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Trolling =

edit

There is a lot of really stupid trolling on this article at the moment, it should be locked down. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.3.250.73 (talk) 21:54, 10 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

"by" - broodmare?

edit

"Arlene has three children by her husband"

"by" is language used to describe horse breeding, by which approach she would be a broodmare. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.175.56.67 (talk) 20:30, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

PC suffix

edit

Should this page include her appointment to the Privy Council as a suffix in addition to the MLA? I don't know how that typically works so I wanted to open a discussion just to ask. Any help and guidance I would greatly appreciate! Thanks! Spf121188 (talk) 20:48, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

See Privy Council of the United Kingdom#Rights and privileges of members, she doesn't get PC. FDW777 (talk) 20:55, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Resignation from party

edit

FYI @Coolguy22468: I've reverted your change, as per coverage at the time of her resignation as First Minister, Arlene also said she would be simultaneously leaving the party. Sideswipe9th (talk) 02:25, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

No problem I was basing it on her suggesting she would still remain a member of the party [1]. Will try and find any more info. C. 22468 Talk to me 02:34, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Interesting! I'm not sure how reliable Belfast Live are, if there's another local source (perhaps the Newsletter or the Belfast Telegraph?) to confirm I'm happy to self-revert Sideswipe9th (talk) 02:39, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
It's owned by Reach PLC (Daily Mirror), I can't find another source so for now I would tend to agree to keep it how it is until more information comes up. C. 22468 Talk to me 03:20, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think the key part is the Belfast Live article is actually drawing its own conclusion about her statement, hence its use of Arlene Foster has signalled, rather than Arlene Foster has said. There is the Arlene Foster statement it's referring to, the statement is certainly open to interpretation about her intentions regarding continued DUP membership (as opposed to support). There's definitely a grey area regarding her current status, not clear how this can be best dealt with in the infobox. FDW777 (talk) 15:02, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that statement is fairly ambiguous. Where Arlene said I will continue to be a voice for the Union, for Northern Ireland and particularly for my home constituency. could be read as that she's remaining as a Unionist, or as a member of the DUP. And where she said I will continue to support Deborah and the Party in Fermanagh & South Tyrone in any way possible in the future. could be read as that she's remaining a party member, or will still be leaving as a member but will vote/advocate for them in the future. For now though, in lack of another source reliable source, I'd argue that we should keep the article content as it stands. If there is a more recent reliable source that confirms what Belfast Live are reporting, then we should use that and update. Sideswipe9th (talk) 21:17, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
