editThis article needs some work. Additional references, photos and some cleaning up around the history section etc. YEPPOON [1] 22:42 AESDST 05/02/2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by YEPPOON (talk • contribs) 11:42, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Improving of article
editI'm keen to start working around the article, adding some photos, adding more historical events etc. --SamB135 TalkContribs 00:16, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
I've added a photo, added another event. --SamB135 TalkContribs 00:54, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- That's great that you want to expand the article. However, I don't think we should be listing the more usual events that the squad are involved in. Aramoana is certainly notable, because so many people died. The killing of a civilian by accident last month was also notable, because it may be the first and only time the AOS has accidently killed an uninvolved person. The incident in Vogel Lane does not appear to be notable.-gadfium 02:24, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- One you may like to include is the 2007 New Zealand anti-terror raids, perhaps also some ideas from "What links here". I agree with not listing minor call-outs here, significant coverage in the press may help. From memory, the NZ Herald also mentioned "extra pay" in an Enzo police dog article for AOS duty, possibly worth a mention. Also, I've nominiated the photo for fair-use review, I don't think it qualifies, nothing special/significant in that image not covered by the free photo further down. - Yeah I suppose that's fair enough. Do you want me to take the alpha-apartment's thing off and replace it with 2007 anti-terror raids? I'd be keen to do that. (I added a response to the nomination of the a-o-s photo, don't know if I was supposed to do that. :S) I'll add the anti-terror raids but keep the Vogel apartments until you/someone else replies with a comment. --SamB135 TalkContribs 04:47, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

- Up to you on the Vogel apartments. What makes this callout special?-gadfium 05:50, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, two people were killed by the knife of the Iraqi man, and this usually receives high media attention in NZ but that sort of makes it more about the murders than the AOS being there, but, the AOS were there, so, I'm sort of stuck about it. If the decision is too delete, we should find something to replace it with. --SamB135 TalkContribs 06:26, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- Delete. I'm going to delete the incident. They've probably been to many incidents like this over the years. I'm going to try to find something to replace it with. --SamB135 TalkContribs 10:39, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Stub-class?
editI think we should move this article out of Stub-class. Anyone else agree? --SamB135 TalkContribs 01:17, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- I've upgraded it to Start-class. I'd like to see more citations, and particularly the satisfaction of the citation needed tags, before considering this for C-class.-gadfium 02:24, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'll look around for some more citations. --SamB135 TalkContribs 04:48, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- Found one for the weaponry; added a cite needed to what the Armed Offenders Squad members do when they are called out. This page seems to be my Wikipedia life at the moment. --SamB135 TalkContribs 11:38, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
