I have deleted the "Press" section, as this is inappropriate. However, the section did have some inline references which were important in establishing notability, and it would be good if those can be reintroduced in parts of the article where they are directly relevant. --Doric Loon (talk) 09:00, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
W magazine wrote: Aftab "won a Student Academy Award for composing music in the short film Bittu and received a Latin Grammy for providing backing vocals to Puerto Rican rapper Residente's song 'Antes Que El Mundo Se Acabe'".1 The Express Tribune wrote the same: "the musician having previously bagged a Latin Grammy in the best rap/hip-hop category for her contribution to Residente's 'Antes Que El Mundo Se Acabe'. Aftab also composed the score for the short film Bittu, which was shortlisted in the category of best live-action short film. She won the Student Academy Award in 2020 for her work on the film".2
However, Universal Music Canada wrote that Arooj Aftab participated – but did not indicate that she won these awards: "In 2020, Aftab composed music for the Academy Award-shortlisted film Bittu and sang on Residente's Latin Grammy Award-winning single 'Antes Que El Mundo Se Acabe'." (which is more accurate and corresponds to the following).3Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences reported that the film Bittu won in the Narrative category; I don't see Aftab won a 2020 "Student Academy Award for composing music".4 Arooj Aftab did not appear on the Finalists' list on August 12, 2020,5 nor on the shortlists announcement on February 9, 2021.6 Filmmaker Karishma Dube won the 2020 Student Academy Award for her film Bittu (Dube can be seen receiving her award on YouTube). Billboard and the Grammy wrote that Residente was the winner at the Latin Grammy; I don't see that Arooj Aftab "bagged a Latin Grammy".78Oroborvs (talk) 19:18, 1 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

I just reverted an edit that removed, without any apparent reason, the LGBTQ+ singer category tags. However, I can't really ascertain why they were put there in the first place, and I haven't been able to track down reliable sources that can back her LGBTQ+ identity. agucova (talk) 03:58, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I went ahead and (re-)removed these categories. As of this writing, the information relevant to these categories is neither mentioned nor sourced in the article, and unless and until it is, the article doesn't belong in those categories (as per WP:CATV). As for the previous version(s) of this article, one of those sources has actually been changed in the meantime so that it no longer supports the earlier assertion. (So much for me not belaboring the point; I only mention it because it's come up again...) -- Gyrofrog(talk)18:00, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
