Talk:Arrow season 7

I've linked the character links with their redirect, instead of a direct link to the comic book character for two main reasons. The first, is that it follows MOS:RDR recommendation to correct linking, as it will allow any future article to already have correct incoming links, instead of trying to find them later on (which Barry Allen (Arrowverse) still has a lot missing). The second, is that the redirects lead to the correct character section which talks about the TV character, while the comic articles barely mention them (some even one-line). It should be noted that in the character section, there is a link to the comic book appearance, which is a more logical linking order and which follows WP:ASTONISH, sending the reader to the page they are expecting to read. Another editor disagrees with this. So the question is, which links would be better here? --Gonnym (talk) 09:11, 6 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I agree with your suggestion, since TV versions of comics characters end up becoming too different. That's why I redirected Zari Tomaz to List of Legends of Tomorrow characters since she is substantially different from DC Comics' Isis, on who she was reportedly based. --Kailash29792 (talk) 09:39, 6 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
I would also agree. This is a season article, not an overview of the show as a whole. The links should be to the characters from the actual show, be that their own articles, or List of Arrow characters with appropriate #. If users wish to follow links from there to any comic book counterparts, they can. The characters in the show are not the same as those in the comics. Disagree: If you are saying that these characters are not related to their comic counterparts, then is there really a need to link them at all? There is already a link to the character page at the top of the section. People can scroll from there all the same as they please. Also, your method is then inconsistent with the recurring and guest lists, which link to the individual character pages as they should. Dhalh (talk) 19:28, 6 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Context is the key. If you are saying "Oliver Queen is based on the character Green Arrow" then linking "Green Arrow" to the comic book article is appropriate, but if you say "Stephen Amell plays Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow" then linking to the television character article is appropriate. Regarding the other characters in the guest section, you are more than welcome to create new redirects and fix those. --Gonnym (talk) 20:16, 6 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
You’re not really understanding what I’m saying. The guest list is fine, you are suggesting to make the main list unharmonius with the rest of the section. Additionally, relying on the cast page as it is to convey information is problematic in itself considering what a mess it is. If you would like to clean that page up and bring it to some kind of standard, be my guest. Until then, no dice. Dhalh (talk) 21:54, 6 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
The guest section can changed to have the same linking style as the main characters. If you have a problem with the list of characters article then you can fix them, not relevant to this issue regardless. We don't need your dice for a consensus. Matt14451 (talk) 21:59, 6 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Support: Gonnym's suggestion. It makes more sense to redirect to Arrowverse characters as the characters in the show are not the same as those in the comics. — Lbtocthtalk 11:54, 7 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Support: it's far more useful and appropriate to link to specific Arrowverse character articles (if they exist) or redirects for these particular incarnations of the characters given that those redirects, as mentioned by Gonnym and others, can be properly targets to the appropriate sections of the characters' "main incarnations" articles. That's what WP:NOTBROKEN is for: cases just like this where a redirect might plausibly at some point be turned into a full article or to direct people to specific sections of more general articles. As AutumnKing mentions, if readers are interested in the originating characters on whom the TV characters are (sometimes quite loosely) based, they can do their own clicking from the TV character article or the "List of" article. —Joeyconnick (talk) 20:30, 7 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Recurring characters

edit

I always thought that an actor needs to appear in at least four episodes in a season to be called "recurring". Virgil (Christopher Gerard), Alena Whitlock (Kacey Rohl), Sergeant Bingsley (Danny Wattley) and Kevin Dale (Raj Paul) have all appeared in four episodes, yet they are billed under "guest" while Dante (Adrian Paul) is billed under "recurring" despite only three appearances. What to do? --Kailash29792 (talk) 08:57, 16 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Per MOS:TVCAST, someone who appears in multiple episodes is not automatically recurring. You need a reliable source saying they are recurring. Adrian Paul (Dante) has one, the others don't. The Ozzy Mandias (talk) 09:36, 16 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
