I removed this sentence in the lead - He is famously one of the wealthiest and most highly remunerated lawyers in India, with a distinctive creativity and originality in theory and argumentation. - because it is textbook MOS:PUFFERY and non-encyclopedic content: Words such as these are often used to promote the subject of an article ... they are known as "peacock terms" ... instead of making subjective proclamations about a subject's importance, use facts and attribution to demonstrate it.

I changed it to this sentence instead - He is listed as being one of the highest paid lawyers in India by Business Today - which is attributed to the source making the claim, and is more neutrally worded. Isaidnoway (talk) 22:34, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Good grief. Aryama Sundaram doesn't need to be puffed up. The sourceable reality is adequate, you see. The claims in question are demonstrably sourceable and uncontroversial to anyone who knows anything about Indian jurisprudence. Examples:

In addition to his exceptional legal profession, C. Aryama Sundaram's influence extends beyond the court, shaping a legacy of excellence in his legal career. With multifaceted information overlaying several legal domains, he has effectively navigated complicated court cases that involve Anil Ambani and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). His prowess in defending clients, especially in disputes over financial settlements, underscores his commitment to those he represents. Reports say that his appearance charges begin at Rs. 4.5 lakh.

Mr. C.A. Sundaram is one of the top successful Lawyer of Supreme Court. He was born on 22nd April, 1957 in Chennai. He originally belongs to Chennai (Tamil-Nadu) in a traditional family that had produced lawyers over 5 generations. Aryama’s grandfather C.P. Ramaswamy Aiyar was a renowned lawyer. His uncle C.R. Pattabhiraman too was a renowned lawyer and went on to become the Law Minister in Indira Grandhi’s Government in 1960.

Aryama Sundaram, India’s one of the top advocate is recognised by his strength that lies in his ability to think originally making him easily stand out from his peers... A persuasive speaker recognised today as the legal luminary is chosen one for arguing complex corporate matters... Sundaram has the privilege of being designated a senior advocate even though he was the youngest lawyer in the history of Madras Court.

Some are even paid to not appear at all for the other side - Aryama Sundaram was retained by Anil Ambani in the gas feud but he did not fight the case.

Aryama Sundaram, the rockstar legal eagle - Mention Aryama Sundaram’s name and the instant response is: Aaaah! That brilliant Supreme Court lawyer with a prominent tilak... His personality is on full display each time he appears on televised panel discussions on tricky legal/constitutional issues. Viewers listen intently to Sundaram’s forceful line of argument, while pompous TV anchors stay mum—they dare not interrupt him! Such is the senior advocate’s authority, the depth of his knowledge, to say nothing of his articulate delivery. For a man born into a family of illustrious lawyers (Sir C.P. Ramaswamy Aiyar was his grandfather), it is this impressive lineage he has to live up to—and does! ...he is seen as one of the most connected lawyers in India, on informal and cordial terms with the mightiest in the land. It is predicted he will soon become the attorney general of India—if political stars align, of course. At 38, he was the youngest in the history of the Madras High Court to become a senior counsel. He has not looked back since, going on to represent the BCCI in India, and dominating the field in corporate law with his dazzling intellect.

Aryama Sundaram is recognised by his strength, which lies in his ability to think originally making him easily stand out in the courtroom. He is a huge believer in the freedom of speech. One of his first cases on freedom of speech and expression, a landmark case was S Rangarajan Vs P Jagjivan Ram (March 1989).

Perfectly accurate, sourced statements cannot in principle constitute puffery. If any of these epithets were applied to, say, John Roberts, there's be no serious, faux-bureaucratic opposition. Neutering the general and sourced perception of him != neutrality. Hölderlin2019 (talk) 22:50, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

That content is all promotional and non-encyclopedic content which is peacock and puffery. BLPs should be written in a dispassionate and neutral tone, which is why it was removed and is disputed as being promotional and MOS:PUFFERY. The sentence I changed it to is attributed to the source making the claim. Isaidnoway (talk) 23:24, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nonsense. That content is directly quoted from reliable sources, which are merely reflecting the actual regard in which he is held by the relevant communities in India. You don't seem to understand how to assess what is 'promotional', 'non-encyclopedic', 'peacock', or 'puffery'. Suppressing actual sourced statements about what the public regard is is the opposite of neutral or dispassionate. We routinely include sentences like "Leonardo is identified as one of the greatest painters in the history of art and is often credited as the founder of the High Renaissance" or what-have-you; to not do so would be decidedly POV. Neymar's article starts with "Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, he is renowned for his flamboyant style of play, passing abilities, and two-footedness" and goes on and on from there - all unencyclopedic, promotional, peacock puffery by your definition. WP uses these terms very differently to you. Hölderlin2019 (talk) 23:51, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
