I propose that Kollam Airport be merged into Asramam Maidan. I think that the content in the airport article can easily be explained in the context of the Maidan article, and the Maidan article is of a reasonable size that the merging of the airport will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. - Oppose: The airport article and the Asramam article are not homogeneous and would not merge well.--Petebutt (talk) 15:15, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- Comment @Petebutt: This "airport" would have classified as a landing ground in the 1930s and, as this news report points out, flights to this landing ground occurred once in two months! With no terminal or hangar on the grounds, the name Kollam Airport or even Aerodrome is misleading. As I see it, air services to the Kollam region were diverted to Trivandrum because of lack of aviation infrastructure at Asramam maidan. The entire "airport" article is already mentioned in the history section of the Maidan article with refs, et al and, IMO, does not deserve to be listed as a separate article, instead it can have a paragraph dedicated to itself in the Maidan Article. Even the failed attempt at starting a flight school at the maidan is already mentioned among other proposals in the maidan article. Also, the "airport" article has no scope for expansion. - Oppose: I would suggest that the page should be retained as a separate 'Kollam Airport' page. Because the place is having huge historic importance in the development of entire Kerala state. Kollam was once the most important business hub of India. The people may not know about the connections between Asramam Maidan and Kollam Airport. They may not even heard about Asramam Maidan. So my suggestion is, let it be a separate article page.--Arunvrparavur (talk) 15:32, 13 October 2014
