Arthur Smith fired after 48-17 loss against the New Orleans Saints
1998 99 season record
editMoved from Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)
If I am not mistaked the Falcons regular season record for 1998-99 was 13-3, not 14-2. Please research and correct this if neccessary.
Calvin
You are mistaken, they were 14-2. Their only losses were to the 49ers and Jets.
You are DEAD wrong, the falcons were 14-2, DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU EDIT SOMETHING ON WIKIPEDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.18.24.144 (talk) 17:50, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Did I just miss something, or is there really no mention of Jerry Glanville's stint as head coach? With the exception of Deion Sanders, he was the biggest name on the Falcons at that time. He is as synonymous with late 80's/early 90's Falcon football as anyone. Whoever wrote this article did a poor, poor job.
History section
editAs per Wikipedia:How to write a great article, the history section needs to be radically changed from a list to essay prose. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 17:13, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- Now that this has been done, can we work on putting the history into past tense rather than the very awkward present tense it's written in now? --SuperNova |T|C| 20:44, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Handled. Although as a suggestion also, if someone could change the SI cover from the 1995 one on displayed to the one dated November 13, 1989 (with Sanders on the cover), that cover better fits the timeframe as well as Sanders' public image at the time. If someone can find one, great. If not it isn't a big deal. Wayman975 17:31, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Alternate Jersey
editAlakazam here, I went to athlegraphic.com to get the information on their alternate jersey. If I made any mistake on any detail of the alternate jersey, please let me know!
There was a mistake made when people believed O.J.Santiago created the "Dirty Bird" dance. It was really done first by Jamal Anderson in a game against the Saints after he scored touchdown. He didn't get any primary camera time for it, but you could see him in the background clearly doing the dance. He and O.J.Santiago also addressed the matter in an interview before a game stating the he did indeed create the dance, but Santiago got caught on camera first. Please stop giving O.J.Santiago credit for creating the dance!

Merge 1986 season article to main team page
editThe 1986 season was split off into its own article. Is there anything special about the 1986 season for the Falcons that I should be aware of? Guroadrunner 14:06, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- Since it's primarily a history text, I'm changing it to merge with the History of the Atlanta Falcons. - BillCJ 05:31, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:ATL 3511.gif
editImage:ATL 3511.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Record vs. opponents
editThe record vs the Green Bay Packers is wrong (as well as the postseason record for this matchup). 100-0 in the regular season and 15-0 in the post? I don't even think they've played that many postseason games, let alone against the Packers. --Marijnes (talk) 08:39, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for catching that, as it was missed vandalism, per this diff. It looks like another vandal crapped on the page after this one, and the editor who reverted missed the first one. Good call! - BillCJ (talk) 09:14, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- I updated the original record against the Packers and added a reference. Atlanta and Green Bay have only played each other 22 times. Atlanta's record against them stands at 10-12 since 2005.--Marijnes (talk) 10:43, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
New Stadium
editThe article mentions that the Falcons are getting a new stadium. However, has it secured funding like the 49ers and Vikings have done?
- According to ESPN, team owner Arthur Blank will contribute $800 million and the city of Atlanta will contribute an additional $200 million via bonds backed by the city's hotel-motel tax. I have added this information to the article in a section entitled "New Falcons Stadium", with a link to its main article. This section follows the season summaries. If it should be located elsewhere in the article, please let me know. Kevin L. Montgomery (talk) 09:29, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

On this page I noticed an error. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta_Falcons In the table labeled "Record vs. opponents" the far right column is labeled "Postseason". At the bottom of that column the Totals say Falcons are 19–0 (.800). But if you add up the wins and losses in that column the Falcons are actually 7-12 (.368). Pretty obvious math error somebody could correct. The page listed below has the correct franchise historical win, loss and winning percentage. [1]

- Done that seems to have been an act of vandalism done here, which not only changed the postseason record but also the results of several of the most recent games. have reverted the edit. thanks for the eye Cannolis (talk) 19:44, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Trouble archiving links on the article
editHello. I am finding myself repeatedly archiving links on this page. This usually happens when the archive doesn't recognize the archive to be good.
This could be because the link is either a redirect, or I am unknowingly archiving a dead link. Please check the following links to see if it's redirecting, or in anyway bad, and fix them, if possible.
In any event this will be the only notification in regards to these links, and I will discontinue my attempts to archive these pages.
