Does her involvement in civil court cases belong in the article
editCopyright issues aside, an editor is attempting to include information from a Denver Post article about Nikkel's involvement in two civil suits. She filed a $10 million suit against the Larimer County sheriff's office in 2001 (dropped), and she was a co-defendant in a wrongful death suit (insurance company paid, confidential settlement).
Is any of this relevant to this article? —C.Fred (talk) 03:49, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Conflict of interest
editA great deal of the content of this article currently has been written by a party representing themselves to be the subject of the article. This is in clear violation of WP:COI. To the specific point of membership in the American Legislative Exchange Council, this editor has previously removed and after reversion has subsequently edited the statement to say she is previously a member but is no longer. There are numerous sources, including Alec's own website that directly contradict that statement. AT the moment I can find no sources showing a public statement that she has left the organization or has had any disagreement with them. Thus it is not only unsourced but it is an overt lie. I have asked this editor to point me to sources showing this change in status so that this point is corrected wherever the correction is appropriate (ALEC's site or wikipedia). I made the correction here for now. But that brings into question the entire history of edits this editor has made to the article. How many other points are deliberate misrepresentations of facts made by the subject of the article for political gain? At the moment, my personal opinion is to leave the content, I'd rather report information rather than having a blank article. But I suggest that most of this content needs further scrutiny to check its accuracy or completeness. Other editors might feel it is better to just remove it. POV and Weasel Words
editThere still appear to be a number of weasel words and POV issues with this page. I too prefer having a greater degree of content on the page, but much of the information is poorly sourced or written with some degree of bias. ToppyT (talk) 01:42, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
