Key

edit

The article states, that the single is in E flat. However, listening to the song, I feel more compelled to say, that the song is in C minor. Or maybe some similar C key, like C dorian or C frygian. Anyone share this thought with me? Mulder1982 (talk) 22:34, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for sharing but we can not change how much we're familiar with it as we depend only on the sources, the sheet music particularly. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 01:12, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just changed it to C minor. The key signature can mean either Eb major or C minor. From listening to the song, it is obviously in C minor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.106.4.94 (talk) 07:36, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. But for non-music specialist like me, I referenced my edits to published articles or whatever. And besides, that either means that you're not one hundred percent sure and you only concludes because you felt its the correct key after listening to it. --Efe (talk) 07:59, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

A song's key signature is just the number of flats/sharps - it doesn't reveal the key of a song by itself. The first chord of the song has a C as its bass note and every subsequent musical phrase returns to C as its root. You can see this even in the current link to the sheet music. There's not any Eb chord in the source as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.127.245.193 (talk) 11:43, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK, thanks for sharing your expertise to WikiPedia. --Efe (talk) 11:52, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sean Paul is NOT A Rapper!

Arabic Influence?

edit

"Like Knowles' 2004 song, 'Naughty Girl', Storch's knowledge on Middle-Eastern music contributes to its Arabic influences"

I got rid of this. There is nothing Arabic (or other Middle Eastern) in "Baby Boy". It sounds Indian, which make sense considering the Indian influence in Jamaica and other Caribbean nations.

This reminds of me of the Freemasons remix of Kelly Rowland's "Work", which was being called "Arabic" when it's definitely not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.184.166.238 (talk) 03:03, 21 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a reliable source? Would be appreciated. Thank you. --Efe (talk) 06:25, 21 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
How about me, being South Asian? The article that references Baby Boy's supposed "Arabic" influences says that Scott Scorch is knowledgeable in both Middle Eastern AND Indian music. That's not a valid reference to conclude that it's Middle Eastern.

Storch is knowledgeable on Middles Eastern and, yes, Indian. But Arabic, too, is Middle Eastern. Youtube is not reliable. --Efe (talk) 06:26, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm aware that Arabic is Middle Eastern. My point is that music used in Baby Boy is NOT Middle Eastern and it's Indian. Youtube might not reliable, but neither is using that interview link to conclude that the music in Baby Boy is "Arabic" or other Middle Eastern since Storch says he's knowledgeable in both Middle Eastern and Indian music.
Why are those YouTube link not reliable anyway? The Western song with Middle Eastern influence is "Kiss Kiss" by Holly Valance. It's an English version of Tarkan's "Kiss Kiss," a Middle Eastern (Turkish) song. That's a fact. And the Freemason's Remix of Kelly Rowland's "Work" is clearly Indian; it samples Bhangra music. Bhangra is an Indian (Punjabi) genre. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.184.166.238 (talk) 01:51, 25 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Chart references

edit

Hello, just stopping through and wanted to leave an alert regarding the proper placement of the chart references. Please see WP:CHARTS#Original chart format. Also "Note that references should be individual and specific to each chart that is being used. Sources per column or table are insufficient."
Hope this helps in your featured article quest.—Iknow23 (talk) 06:26, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Work needed

edit

I mistakenly nominated the article for a featured review since this page was not active. Some of the things that need to be fixed:

  • Links for the unsourced statements.
  • Broken and dubious links
  • Alternate text for the images.
  • New arrangement of the sections and paragraphs.

I still think that the prose of the article is not up to FA standards, when compared to FA "4 Minutes", for example. Xwomanizerx (talk) 22:12, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Have you noticed that I've already added alt text, which is not a rule BTW. TbhotchTalk C. 22:14, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
That's ok, I'm just used to adding text whenever I nominate an article for GA. Xwomanizerx (talk) 22:26, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've noted some addition citation concerns with tags on the article. --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 23:22, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

BS. Are you saying the information provided in the succession boxes is exempt from sourcing? --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 00:29, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you have 3 options:
  • You can click through them and check them by yourself.
  • You can get a source, something that won't get you five minutes.
  • You can stop being disruptive about "those charts are is unsourced" (this is an advice, BTW). Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 00:36, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm. I just looked up List of number-one R&B singles of 2003 (U.S.) and guess what, no sources. Then there's List of number-one dance airplay hits of 2003 (U.S.). Oh wait, there's a source...nope, dead link. I can't even confirm that it reached number one on the dance airplay chart because I don't find it on Billboard, Allmusic, or anywhere else. Now what? --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 00:43, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
That seems to go against core policy, WP:V. Also, per WP:SBS: "Cite sources across all succession lists". --Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars (talk) 00:53, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why is it "Baby Boy (Beyoncé Knowles song)" and not "Baby Boy (Beyoncé Knowles and Sean Paul song)"? Tomer T (talk) 14:42, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
