Fair use rationale for Image:Back to school.jpg

edit

Image:Back to school.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Remake

edit

Wasn't there talk of a remake with Cedric the Entertainer? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bofum (talkcontribs) 02:31, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rating

edit

The film appears to be rated PG-13, despite it having nudity and profanity.  Perhaps there is some sort of notable story here that might merit being covered in the article.  allixpeeke (talk) 22:59, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

WP:FILMRATINGS are not normally notable. This film is from 1986, the PG-13 rating had been recently introduced in 1984, and the film is so far from being an R-rated film that I don't think think there was anything surprising about it getting the lower rating. Also the MPAA were often inconsistent in their ratings (check out This Film Is Not Yet Rated if you have not seen it) so a broad comedy could often get away with a lot of things that an action movie of horror might not, because of context. Filmmakers are pretty good about knowing what they can get away with. Also it's Rodney Dangerfield, his reputation precedes him. (If there was anything worth mentioning about the rating or censorship I'm sure the AFI catalog article would have mentioned it already[1] and I found nothing about longer or shorter versions of the movie either.) I seriously doubt this is anything other than a movie made by people who knew how go close to the line without crossing it. -- 109.78.199.18 (talk) 21:33, 10 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Why Turgeson should be included as alternate spelling of Kinison's character's last name

edit

I've included Turgeson as an alternately spelled name, or a.k.a., for Sam Kinison's character. It's spelled that way on the blackboard in the opening scene with Kinison; it's an obvious play on "turgid"; and it's pronounced with a soft-g, or 'j', sound, where there are no examples of words I can think of where a soft-g precedes 'u'. It is spelled 'Terguson' in the credits and therefore at IMDb. However, either the filmmakers made a clerical error, or they are mocking any attempt at a proper spelling being arrived at. Were Melon's grades mostly B's or D's?

edit

I was recently reverted in an edit where I changed Melon's grades from mostly B's to D's. Did Melon barely pass, except for Diane's 'A', or did he do really okay? [http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_scripts/b/back-to-school-script-transcript.html Script-o-rama.com] has it as the former. It probably is easy to mishear 'B' as 'D' and vice versa.
