Trying to find articles

edit

So far, I've looked in the archives of The Dallas Morning News, which is the only newspaper for which I can presently access archives before 1980. I found two articles listed (July 26, 1975: "Police Probe Link in 3 Slayings" and July 27, 1975, "Police Unable to Link Deaths to other Attacks"), but for some reason the newspapers for those two days aren't accessible, which is the first time I've seen that happen. I'll look in more recent archives of other papers to see if I find any update.Lawikitejana (talk) 21:35, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Possible copyvio

edit

I have added the possible copyvio tag at the top of this talkpage, it seems this version and a large part of subsequent versions are a direct copy of this IMDB page. The bio on the IMDB page is written by "Gary Brumburgh" who apparently writes a lot of mini-bio's on IMDB. The editor who added it to the article here on wiki is an IP editor so i'm not sure if it's the same person. And i don't know if the bio on IMDB has copyright on it, nor can i see when the IMDB bio was written so i can't determine where it was written first, on Wikipedia or on the IMDB. A possible source might be "Liz Torres joined cast of 'Mary Tyler Moore' spinoff Phyllis after tragedy," Winston-Salem Journal (NC), March 13, 2004, TV Journal page 8." as stated in the reference on the Wiki article. But i have no access to that source. Erebus Morgaine (talk) 13:06, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have asked at the Resource Exchange to see if anybody might have access to the article. The wording of the added text reads very much like an obituary article from a newspaper. -- Whpq (talk) 18:38, 10 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
IMDb is not considered a reliable source for Wikipedia articles. WP:IMDB Whether or not the IMDb article is copyrighted, content from it should not be used in the article. Eddie Blick (talk) 01:33, 11 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Per this note, the material is not copied from the Winston-Salem Journal. It is unclear whether this has been copied from IMDB. There is a large overlap in wording, but the article, and IMDB are not identical, and have some differences. The earliest internet archive of the IMDB bio is from Feb 27, 2009 which is after the introduction of the material in the Wikipedia article on July 24, 2008. I can find no other site that may have been the source of this material. It may very well be that the material was added to Wikipedia by the same person who wrote the IMDB bio. Note that the current version of the IMDB bio differs from the 2009 version. It seems that it has been edited over time. It might be the case that the bio was added to Wikipedia first, and a modified version added to IMDB. -- Whpq (talk) 04:01, 11 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
