Maratha
editThe Marathas were clearly not an Empire, they deny being a Confederacy...therefore they should just be called Marathas — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.182.56.188 (talk) 08:46, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

- Yashwantrao Holkar was in Farrukhabad on 16 November 1804, but he had defeated Major Frazer in Doab and he was on his way to Deeg. Lord Lake reached Farrukhabad on 17 November 1804 but he didnt dare to attack Maharaja Yashwantrao Holkar. Lord Lake was a mute spectator watching Yaswantrao Holkar proceeding towards Deeg. Governor General was disappointed by this conduct of Lord Lake and he wrote to him about his disappointment. In short this battle never took place!
The statement that "The Battle of Farrukhabad took place on November 14, 1803, between a small British force under General Lake, and an army of 60,000 Marathas under Jeswunt Rao Holkar. Holkar was signally defeated with heavy losses. The British casualties were two killed and 20 wounded." is unbelievable, false and distorted.
- In November 1803 the British were fighting against Scindia and Bhosale so the question of Lord Lake or Yashwantrao Holkar being in Farrukhabad dosent arise.
- Malharrao Holkar, Jayappa Scindia, Gangadhar Tatya, Tukojirao Holkar, Khanderao Holkar went to help Safdarjung against Shadulla Khan, Ahmed Khan Bangash, Mohamud Khan, Bahadur Khan Rohilla as per the directions of Peshwa. In the Battle of Fatthegad and Farukhabad they defeated the Rohillas and Bangash (March 1751-April 1752). When Moghul Emperor came to know that Ahmedshah Abdali had attacked Punjab he asked Safdarjung to make peace with Rohillas and Bangash. On 12th April 1752 Safdarjung agreed to help Mahrattas but Emperor didn’t ratify it and he signed a treaty with Ahmedshah Abdali on 23rd April 1752. However Peshwa asked Malharrao Holkar to return to Pune as Salabat Khan had attacked Pune. It were these Rohillas and Bangash who helped Abdali in the Battle of Panipat against whom Malharrao Holkar had fought. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.88.1.11 (talk) 05:11, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
