Battle of Sinoia

edit

I was born in Sinoia and was a 12 year old school boy when this battle took place. I remember Rh AF helicopters taking off and landing in front of the Police Station on that day. Intermittent distant gunfire could be heard. Later in the day the bodies of the dead 'terrorists' were brought to the Police Station together with their arms and ammunition. (The Terrorists certainly did not run out of ammunition). The Terrorists were killed in the vicinity of the Hunyani river which was on the Salisbury (now Harare) side of Sinoia. At the time the BSAP had a 'Reserve' Force which was also involved in this battle. This 'Reserve' Force was largely made up of local residents which were ardent 'big game hunters' and also Btitish WW2 Veterans. As in many later battles between the 'Terrorists' and the Rhodesian Forces, the 'Terrorists' were no match for The Rhodesian Forces, which was also the outcome of the Battle of Sinoia. 212.183.128.105 (talk) 22:34, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
