I don't think her brother is. did she marry a Mormon?

Converted in 1976, from Roman Catholic, according to this. --71.254.103.95 00:11, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Impeachment hearings

edit

It's a biographical article. So someone criticized her. It's unsourced and gets removed for that reason. Even with a source, we'd have to discuss its biographical significance. patsw 15:43, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Booed"?

edit

I removed an incredibly un-encyclopedic reference to criticism by the anonymous "many". I invite the curious to go to the video which is online (at least as of June 3) at Comedy Central. The "booing" actually starts with the sarcastic remark by Steve Colbert that he, lacking the time to read the immigration bill, would hire a Mexican to do so. (By the way, that was a very unoriginal joke by May 23.) Colbert was winding down the 10 minute segment -- this was in the final three seconds of the clip. Having watched many such shows, it's an invitation for the guest, Bay Buchanan in this case, to continue the joke by making a equally biting sarcastic rejoinder and go to the commercial on a laugh -- It is Comedy Central, after all. Her six word response to Colbert was that she would hope that Colbert could find one (i.e. the Mexican who would read the immigration bill on behalf of Steve Colbert) who could read English.

Neither Colbert's remark, nor Buchanan's, was funny, and a lame joke could be a equally valid reason for the booing. It certainly doesn't reveal any hidden racism on the part of either. What Colbert and Buchanan said is verifiable above at least until Comedy Central rotates it out. The "many" who criticized Colbert and Buchanan was, of course, uncited. patsw 04:35, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Maiden name

edit

Maiden name needed. Badagnani (talk) 09:15, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just a wild guess here, but if she is Pat Buchanan's sister then it follows that IS her maiden name. SteveCoppock (talk) 23:50, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Partisan "criticism"

edit

I removed the Media Matters blurb about "accusations [sic] of dishonesty". First of all, it's not notable, as it somehow suggests Buchanan's claims were unique or even in the minority. This was all over TV when Hillary and Chelsea's conflicting accounts emerged. See here, here, here (transcript), here, and here for other claims of "lying".

Does anyone really expect every piece of criticism by partisan sites like Media Matters, Think Progress, Newsmeat, Hot Air, Ann Coulter, etc. to be included one Wikipedia pages? These are *encyclopedia* articles for goodness sake, not blogs. One blog's criticism is nowhere near notable enough to paste on right under a Wikipedia biography. Frankly, it makes the quality of this encyclopedia look embarrassingly shoddy. Time should be spent documenting information you'd find in typical Britannica or Encarta biographies, in addition to *major* scandals, recent notable events, and the like. The opinion of "Matthew Gertz" is hardly any of those things. At the bare minimum, I could see this being used as a single-sentence addendum to a paragraph about her book, but certainly not a separate "accusations [sic] of dishonesty" section—as if it's pre-Iraq war intelligence controversy/the Enron scandal were talking about.—DMCer 09:37, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

change title name to Bay Buchanan

edit

She is always referred to as Bay Buchanan not by her given name.--Levineps (talk) 01:37, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree completely. For what it's worth, Google currently shows 1230 hits for "Angela Marie Buchanan", 67800 for "Bay Buchanan". It's obviously the more common name for sourcing. The first section of WP:NAME is titled "Use the most easily recognized name", and that applies here. Rklear (talk) 17:43, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't we have her nickname's origin?

edit

While Patrick Buchanan's little sister is universally known in the media as "Bay", don't Wikipedia readers deserve to know the derivation of that unusual moniker? [signed] FLORIDA BRYAN — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.99.20.254 (talk) 22:13, 14 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you have sourcing go ahead and add the nickname origin. Flyte35 (talk) 23:17, 14 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
