Sources needed re: California post office history

The Hislop & Hughes pamphlet, "Tehama County Place Names", cites two sources for the Beegum post offices dates and history:

• Frickstad, Walter N., A Century of California Post Offices, Philatelic Research Society, Pacific Rotaprinting Company, Oakland, California, 1955.

• Salley, H.E., History of California Post Offices, 1849 – 1976, Postal History Associates, Inc., La Mesa, California, 1977.

Both hooks work, though @Cielquiparle: maybe change it to was vetoed, the Sacramento Union a newspaper accused their residents of lacking imagination – is the Sacramento Union an important enough paper that its relevant to mention in the hook?
