Wow!
editJust thought I'd stop by to say "Wow". I haven't been so active in recent months, but when I come back from time to tine I see all your great work on historical football topics. It is great to see someone relatively new working so diligently in this area and generating quality work. Cbl62 (talk) 16:55, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Barnstar for you!
editThe College football Barnstar | ||
For creating and expanding high-quality content on college football players and teams and for diligent research and advocacy in saving many notable articles from deletion. In a relatively short period since 2021, the 823 articles you created have received more than 3.7 million page views! These contributions include 21 college football biographies with more than 25,000 views:
I look forward to your next contributions. Cbl62 (talk) 17:08, 9 July 2023 (UTC) |
- Thank you very much, Cbl62 - this means a lot coming from you! And wow, I'm surprised my creations have received that many views - when I joined back in November 2020 (initially only to write two things), I would never have guessed I would go on to create things read by millions! BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:19, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
- Page views are an indication that people care for the subjects about which you are writing. You garnered 3.7 million views in just two-and-a-half years. That total will continue to grow in the years (and decades) ahead. Keep it up! Cbl62 (talk) 17:25, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

Thorn (athletics coach) submissioneditHey, I saw your comment on Draft:William J. Thorn (athletics coach). I wasn't actually notified by the user that it was rejected, but thanks for asking for clarification on the reasoning for rejection - the same user rejected another draft of mine Draft:Craig Angelos (the athletic director of Hawaii), and I was not able to get any more detail on that one either. I'm not going to ask you to review them - that can be a lengthy process - but could you maybe make a similar request there? If there's specific feedback, I can try and correct any issues, so it's disappointing when nothing specific is given. Toa Nidhiki05 (Work) (talk) 17:40, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

Revisiting the improvement of sports stubseditHello! Doing new page patrol for the massive amount of sports biographies has reminded me about the effort to get some of them fleshed out with existent but hard-to-find significant coverage. It's not really my area of expertise, but you've been doing good work toward making that happen. Are we still considering a broader effort to get these cleaned up through an event or drive, or something similar? I'd really like for Category:Sports biographies lacking sources containing significant coverage to be cleared, and obviously it would be better to do that through high quality articles over deletion if it's feasible. DCWC closing update
editThe 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest has come to a close! After a thrilling finish to the event with a slew of submissions on the final day, we have our winners. With 608 points, Thebiguglyalien (submissions) comes in third with his series of Kiribati and Botswanan submissions; BeanieFan11 (submissions) flies into second place at the last second with 771 points after a string of good articles about sportspersons; and after leading for much of contest's three months, Generalissima (submissions) finishes with a whopping 798 points to take home the Gold Belt Buckle. Congratulations to our winners!
In addition to his spot in the top three, BeanieFan11 (submissions) also wins the special awards for submitting under the most countries (44 countries) and for writing the most articles about women (15 Did you know? nominations)! Magentic Manifestations (submissions), after making 16 submissions under the Indian flag—15 of them good articles—receives the awards for most submissions for a single country and most featured or good articles promoted. For their submission of one FAC review, five FLC reviews, and 20 GAN reviews, Simongraham (submissions) wins for most article reviews.
The results of the contest have far exceeded any expectations the coordinators had for it at the beginning: among the submissions to the event were 3 FAs, 10 FLs, 88 GAs, dozens of article reviews of every kind, and more Did you know? submissions than we can count! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Thank you for participating with us in the contest and contributing to this effort. The DCWC will return next year and we look forward to seeing you contribute again! However, before that...
We need your feedback! Join the conversation on the talk page to discuss your reflections on the contest (even if you didn't participate!) and help us make it better.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or ask one of the coordinators: Ixtal (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). Administrator Elections: Call for Candidates
editAdministrator Elections | Call for Candidates
The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.
Here is the schedule:
- October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
Please note the following:
- The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
- Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
- The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
- The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
- Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

How many GANs do you have prepped?
editNot like I'm going to be competing for the top spot in the WikiCup, but I was curious how many articles you have prepped and ready to nominate. Is there a reason you haven't nominated a bunch earlier in this round? I see, I believe, 8 from December of last year that you had received feedback on but had withdrawn due to being busy and having a bit of burnout. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:46, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- I was actually just preparing to nominate a few when I noticed your message – I've been meaning to do some nominations recently (and work on the old ones) but got a bit carried away with other work – to answer your question, I had previously wrote up a list of about c. 15-20 likely GAs that are ready to be nominated (and a good number of others that I intend on working on in the upcoming days). Deprodding
editI'm aware there's no requirement to provide a genuine rationale for deprodding, but it's good practice and this seems rather poor. AusLondonder (talk) 16:33, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- When someone rapidly PRODs well over 100 Olympian articles within minutes and admits that they did not do any BEFORE search whatsoever – and the only explanation given for PRODing is something listed as a argument to avoid in deletion discussions, dePRODing on that basis is certainly valid. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:37, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- The nom actually stated the article fails WP:NSPORT, which is true. AusLondonder (talk) 16:42, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

Administrator Elections: Discussion phase
editThe discussion phase of the October 2024 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
- November 1–? - Scrutineering phase
During October 22–24, we will be in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages will open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Discussion phase.
On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

To answer your questions in recent North Korean AfD nominations
edit- Pang Gwang-chol:
What's his Korean name?
I think it's roughly like 팡광촐. - Tak Yong-bin:
How do you know he fails GNG? Did you look at even a single North Korean news source from the time?
I usually assume Simione001 just looked at the article by the base it doesn't have any significant coverage.

- Thanks for Pang Gwang-chol. As for Tak, I've figured it was something like that – still a completely inappropriate level of BEFORE for the topic (or, rather, no BEFORE), but oh well... BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:09, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, Pang Gwang-chol's Korean name is based on my interpretation. I can't find any source that writes it differently, though. ⋆。˚꒰ঌ Clara A. Djalim ໒꒱˚。⋆ 14:59, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

Your WikiCup submission: Template:Did you know nominations/Mathias Nkwenti
editHi BeanieFan11, thanks for participating in the WikiCup. You recently submitted Template:Did you know nominations/Mathias Nkwenti for DYK points, but unfortunately it is not eligible for DYK points because it was nominated to DYK as a newly promoted GA. I know this can be disappointing, but Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring#Did you know? states that only newly created or expanded DYKs are eligible for DYK points. The rules specifically exclude DYK submissions from receiving points if their appearance on DYK is solely because the article was a newly promoted GA. Epicgenius (talk) 00:57, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Epicgenius: I left a comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiCup/History/2024/Submissions/BeanieFan11; it could have qualified as either a 5x expansion or GA. BeanieFan11 (talk) 00:58, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- @BeanieFan11, thanks for your response. I'm double-checking the nomination again, but in the future, please nominate it as a 5x expansion if it's a fivefold expansion (even if it's also a newly promoted GA). If you nominate the article for DYK solely based on it being promoted to GA status, it would not be eligible. – Epicgenius (talk) 01:01, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- After taking a look, I can confirm that the article did meet the 5x eligibility criterion at the time of nomination. I apologize and have restored your points. However, I should caution against nominating a 5x expansion as a newly promoted GA next time - I would rather grant you the points if it's actually eligible, rather than mistakenly denying you the points. Epicgenius (talk) 01:06, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

Bulky user page header
editI do love how full your userpage header is, with all those top icons, but I think it, in a way, takes away from your successes because I don't think anybody is actually trying to count the GA and DYK icons on your page because of how many there are. Have you considered something similar to what Gonzo has (see User talk:Gonzo fan2007)? Personally I have no idea how many GAs and DYKs you have because of this, and I think it could actually help to showcase this a bit better. Just a suggestion, but obviously we all have our own preferences and style! Hey man im josh (talk) 13:36, 28 October 2024 (UTC)

Mass de-PRODding
editHello, BeanieFan11,
I just wanted to let you know that I suggested to that editor to use PROD rather than sending dozens of articles to AFD. This was because no one was participating in these AFDs about dart players and they all filled up the daily log and had to be relisted. I thought it would be easier to PROD these articles and if anyone wanted to work on them, they could be easily restored through REFUND. So, they were following my advice to do so. Liz Read! Talk! 23:08, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think both the mass PROD route and the mass AFD route is inappropriate. The user seems to have done zero BEFORE search (they refused over three times to answer the basic question of 'have you done a BEFORE?') and several of them proved to be clearly notable when actual effort was put in (e.g. Bill Lennard; and while Jack McKenna hasn't been closed yet there's multiple stories calling him Ireland's greatest ever darts player, a household name, etc.). IMO, even if articles aren't in the best shape, when a good chunk are likely notable mass removal without any effort to verify notability is not a good idea. Mass dart player PROD reversal
editHello, BeanieFan11.
I noticed you recently removed PROD templates from a bunch of dart player’s pages citing that a proper BEFORE was not done according to your research.
As you requested, ItsKesha brought those articles to AfD, where editors like me are trying to figure out if they are notable.
Currently, from the research of us !voters on AfD, it seems as if all or most of them are only mentioned in automated databases, with no human having written about them in detail meeting SIGCOV besides the creation of the article.
However, I was wondering why you believed ItsKesha’s BEFORE was insufficient - did you find any sources that they missed to indicate this? (not that you needed to provide a valid rationale from dePRODing, it’s totally optional).
You are also welcomed to contribute on AfD.
Thank you for your time! 2001:8003:4A10:601:4DE5:4E09:A5D1:B265 (talk) 10:12, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- It’s just that over on AfD we’re trying to figure out if any sources were missed. Thanks again for your time! :) 2001:8003:4A10:601:4DE5:4E09:A5D1:B265 (talk) 10:17, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- I based the removals on these discussions; I find it highly likely that no BEFORE was performed, given that well over 100 articles were nominated en masse in a few minutes (how would anyone be able to do a proper BEFORE in that timeframe, especially for historical ones?) and ItsKesha outright refused on numerous occasions to answer the basic question of 'have you done a BEFORE'. I only gave a proper look to a few but several of them turned out to be clearly notable (e.g. Bill Lennard, as well as Jack McKenna who has multiple newspaper articles calling him the greatest Irish darts player in history). There's the possibility that many may not be notable, and that's why I don't object to AFDs (although it'd be nice if they were of a reasonable quantity – i.e. not all at once) – but surely a good number of notable ones were going to be lost in the process given how little effort was put in which is not appropriate in my opinion. I came across his redlink at 2011 Virginia Destroyers season. They didn't look very hard in that AfD. I found two more sources on a quick Google search. ([2][3]). I haven't looked through the archives yet either (my newspapers.com is still messed up). ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:16, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Here's another from Google ([4]) ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:21, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- There appears to be a decent amount of coverage on Newspapers.com. I could provide some clippings if you want to recreate it, or I could possibly recreate it at some point if you want (apparently he was cut from his college team, then played juco for two years, then was a third-string at Marshall for two years and only completed two passes ([5]) – interesting that he was able to sign with the Seahawks after such little experience.). BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:53, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

I appreciate all that you do on Wikipedia, your contributions are invaluable. However, it would make things smoother if you didn't wait until the last minute to de-PROD articles. The earlier you can do this, the better. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 23:55, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- I can try, but its a little difficult to keep up with all the PRODs and give them the proper attention when they're being done in large chunks (e.g. there's 22 active Olympian PRODs and several more added each day; it can take a decent bit of time to do proper searches for each, especially for ones in different languages, etc.). Question
editSorry to bug you, but do you mind doing a quick Newspapers.com search for Thaddeus Coleman's father Michael Coleman to see if he really spent time with the Saints and Redskins? This source says that but it was in the Wikipedia article before that source was published so they may have been copying Wikipedia. Thaddeus's PFA profile has a link to another Michael Coleman but it's the wrong Michael. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:14, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- I looked at the first 20-or-so matches for "'Michael Coleman' 'New Orleans Saints'" and "'Michael Coleman' 'Washington Redskins'" and didn't see anything... Any idea what years he would have been active? BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:37, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- No clue, I don't even know where he went to college. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:04, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

Help please
editHello. It's been a while. If you recall you helped me out with the Jersey Women's cricket business back in June or July. I'd like to turn one of the redirects into a full page as I have put together enough significant coverage on this particular player to get it passed I believe. Can you tell me how to do this? I've tried but can't figure it out. The player in question is Charlie Miles. Any help would be appreciated. Best wishes. Shrug02 (talk) 22:19, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Here's a link to the article before it was redirected. If you click 'edit source' at that link, you can add the details to the original article that prove notability and then hit publish. Does that help? BeanieFan11 (talk) 22:41, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Certainly does. Thanks. As always you are a marvel. Shrug02 (talk) 22:44, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- @BeanieFan11 It got passed by the reviewer! Thanks again for all your help. Shrug02 (talk) 14:36, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

Draft Title
editI am trying to a make a page about current Washington State receiver Kyle Williams, but I don't know what the article name should be as there are already multiple American football page with the name Kyle Williams, one of which is already a receiver, and I don't know the birthdate of the Washington State Kyle Williams. What should the article name be? Butters (talk) 15:05, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Butters.From.SouthPark: Hmm... that's complicated – and I can't seem to find his birthdate either... Maybe something like Kyle Williams (Washington State wide receiver)? Of course, it'd need to be changed if he signs into the NFL... If you're reasonably sure he was born in e.g. the 2000s you could do Kyle Williams (wide receiver, born 2000s), although that doesn't seem certain. I could start a thread at the WikiProject College Football talk page if you like (or you could). BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:02, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

Kevin Parks was good enough to get trading cards but doesn't have an article. I don't think he was even invited to an NFL rookie minicamp tryout, kind of odd (it might be because of his height, he has a PFR page somehow that says he is 5'6). This guy is the polar opposite of Derek Devine from above, who didn't play any in college but signed with an NFL team anyway. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:03, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I think I've seen a couple of guys with trading cards who did absolutely nothing beyond college (I've gotten quite a few no-name autographs in packs myself). Does seem kind of unusual that he got next to zero attention beyond college, since he seemed to have decent stats. According to [6] he briefly played in the German Football League and was a signee to the failed Major League Football. Some other coverage: [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]. BeanieFan11 (talk) 20:26, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- OK thanks, I'll get around to creating it eventually unless someone else gets to it first. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:22, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- SAGE is usually good for some no-namer autographs (I have JJ Howland's SAGE auto, he was with the Bucs during 2022 preseason). SAGE does have good stuff though as well, hee hee. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:30, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
