After watching this movie lately, asking myself which kind of mental disorder Joon may have, I was quite positive, that it mainly displays symptoms of asperger syndrome. The notion of schizophrenia mentioned in the article seams to be hardly substantiated to me. Joon mentiones during ping-pong her undisputed ability to count well. Her extraordinary need for system, regularity and order is mentioned. The medication is totally unspecific and as such no indicator for any specific disorder. Rather than dementia precox (old age/decay) she shows signs of child like behaviour (young/undeveloped). Her ability to solve an basically emotional problem on a purely intellectual (Letter writing) level is excellent. She shows no signs of being remote-controlled, rather egocentric and content with what she likes to do. Bursts of anger when others do not behave what she sees as correct. Has less empathy for others and describes their actions on the factual level, not knowing their emotions/motivations, also rather not judging or interpretating it. What I see is a rather light (comedy) case of asperger and no indication of schizophrenia. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106387/faq--Manorainjan (talk) 12:05, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Joon certainly is portrayed with Apergers' traits, but also auditory hallucinations are mentioned so quite possibly she has both conditions. LeapUK (talk) 15:42, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
In need of a rewrite
editI've only seen bits and pieces of this movie, so I don't know all of the plot points. But maybe somebody who is more familiar with the movie can rewrite the plot summary. The one that's there now looks like it was written by a 10-year-old doing a book report. 208.125.176.34 (talk) 13:40, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Note*
I took the time to update it today, after watching it. Hopefully everyone who reads it now will understand the actual plot. I left a few things out obviously because I didn't want to rewrite the whole movie word for word, but I believe I got the major key points. -C.L. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.179.4.64 (talk) 20:33, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Real plotting means to tell everything in one sentence . The page is something else, a form of detailled story telling.
For example: "Joon lost the card play and won the cousin sam as a price." It's another form of narrating, just writing the lines and the important action. The body of the page has to be urgently rewritten. Try it in shortness .--94.220.243.146 (talk) 12:14, 7 June 2009 (UTC)--Danaide (talk) 12:16, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
