"Personal Life" section
I strongly recommend getting rid of this section and integrating material into other sections. Much of its content is just overkill, and I suspect it'll become further bloated if the section remains. It doesn't even warrant a separate section in the first place not only because her career and relationship with Jay-Z are closely intertwined, but she also has had no other high-profile relationships. Therefore, her relationship with him as well as daughter Blue should just be integrated into a "Life and career" section—where most of the important detail is already mentioned—along with "Early life". All that really needs to be said about the couple is their work together, when they first started dating, when they married, the birth of Blue, and maybe Beyoncé's miscarriage. I'd say detail on the song "Glory" is better suited in Jay-Z's article than here as it is his song and not Beyoncé's. The "politics" should probably go under "Other ventures". Wealth should potentially be integrated into "life and career" since some of it is already there as well. Her half-brother Nixon doesn't belong in this section either, and I'm not sure if it's even worth mentioning Matthew and Tina's divorce when that could easily go instead on their own articles. Snuggums (talk / edits) 03:59, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- I agree that this section has impertinent material that should be cut down, but I strongly disagree with its removal. Although you're right to say that her relationship with Jay-Z is closely intertwined, I don't think "politics" and "net worth" would integrate well into the quite long Career sections, especially as some users come to the page exactly for that sort of information, and it wouldn't be as easy to locate. Also, her family is quite notable, Tina and Mathew, although primarily known for their role in Beyoncé's career, are reasonably well known, and Solange is an alt-R&B artist who also has some success, so I feel like this section is relevant, but perhaps isn't presenting the right material. I would also note that this article isn't structured as "Life and career" or "Biography": it's just "Career", and those sections generally pertain to her musical/film ventures and don't discuss her life as a whole. What I could do is go through the Personal life sections over the next few days and see if I can weed out any redundancy, and see what you thought after that? Regards, —JennKR | ☎ 10:39, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
- I agree with Jen. There's a lot of notable and relevant information here. Some information could be easily relocated, but others could not which would either leading to their unnecessary removal or messy incorporation to other sections of the article. Inaccurate Info
At the end of the 2011- present section it is claimed that Beyonce was named the highest earning female in 2014 for the second year running by Forbes. However check the source, it doesnt actually say that. furthermore, Madonna was named the highest earning by Forbes 2013 with $125 million (Beyonce earned $55 million) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.217.132.252 (talk) 20:00, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

On a episode of Saturday Night Live they performed a sketch depicting Beyonce, Jay Z and Solange Knowles talking about an incident that happened on Monday May 5th. The three were seen in a security video where Solange Knowles became upset and attacked Jay Z. Maya Rudolph, Jay Pharoah, and, Sasheer Zamata were all part of the parody. Saturday Night Live takes their own spin on the incident and acts out the three celebrities apologies about the incident in a comedic manner.

In the Politics section of Personal Life, I would like to append or merge the following:
Beyoncé’s recent claim of the feminist title has sparked range of discussions in academia and media about the adoption of feminism by celebrities and if Beyoncé specifically is a ‘true’ feminist. The main point of contention regarding whether or not scholars and other renowned feminists accept Beyoncé as a feminist is her often sexualized image which conforms to hegemonic ideals of beauty. Some believe that she cannot be a true feminist because her performances portray the current patriarchal ideal of beauty to young women which continues to oppress them. Alternatively, many believe that she has been doing feminist work for the majority of her music career and the merit of her contributions should not be based on how she chooses to express her sexuality. Before digging in to each of these arguments it is necessary to understand feminism in the context of current celebrity culture which has sparked unprecedented feminist discourse about what it means to be a feminist as a celebrity (Hamad & Taylor 124).
Recently, many well-known actresses and music artists have begun to take on or reject the title of feminist. This is mainly because there is dispute about what it actually means to be a feminist. Most agree that it is that feminism is the belief that women should have equal social, political, and economic rights as men, but not all agree what that should look like in practice. On this subject Hamad and Taylor commented that, “Intersections of feminism and contemporary celebrity culture are therefore myriad, complicated and contradictory. (125)” It is important to keep this fact in mind so as not to expect the same style of feminist work from scholars and music celebrities like Beyoncé.
Beyoncé’s feminist work is unique and powerful. If it wasn’t clear in her previous work, Beyoncé declared to the world that she was a feminist during the 2014 MTV Music Video Awards by appearing on stage as a silhouette with the word ‘FEMINIST’ in the background. Beyoncé has also used her music to spread the message of what feminism actually means by placing an excerpt of novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s speech ‘We Should All Be Feminists’ in her song ***Flawless. She has also contributed to a number of campaigns that seek to educate and empower women leaders (Hamad & Taylor 125). Beyoncé even created an all-female band, The Sugar Mamas, so that more young women would be able to have role model musicians to look up to. In her prominent position as an artist Beyoncé has also been able to use her music videos as an elaboration of the feminist messages presented in her songs which have impacted millions.
The music videos for ***Flawless (2014) and Check On It (2005) represent two very different periods in Beyoncé’s career and both have very clear messages about feminism and how she feels as an artist. The music video for the song Check On It was shot as an advertisement for the Pink Panther movie released in 2006. The entire video was shot with walls of billowing pink satin with each of Beyoncé’s many outfits being pink as well. The outfits are widely separated by style and hue which include pastel ball gowns to a miniskirt and a crop top. With these many different roles Beyoncé is trying to convey different messages through each. One of the more “classy” looks she seems to more personally identify with while others comment on the how younger women are hypersexualized juxtaposed with the fact that the lyrics talk about receiving gratification from being desired (Durham 43). The ***Flawless music video is much more geared to making a clear statement for feminism. It presents Beyoncé as herself instead of playing a role and dancing amongst a crowd of people that don’t represent the ideals of beauty or fashion. There are several times throughout the video where Beyoncé dances provocatively, but not on or for anyone -- just for herself. Since Beyoncé upholds patriarchal ideals of beauty while trying to convey her message of feminism, a duality of ideals is created by her music videos. One where she is powerful and in control and the other where she is an object of desire by her viewers. In order to deal with this unique duality in Beyoncé’s work, Durham suggests that, “It may be necessary to disrupt discourses of class, dislodge femininity from compulsive heterosexuality, and disconnect Black female visibility from male erotic pleasure. (45) ” While it may be necessary to do this to correctly interpret Beyoncé’s music videos, the duality that exists currently is still what prevents some from seeing Beyoncé as a true feminist.
The reason Bell Hooks and others criticize Beyoncé for this duality is because it can be seen as a form of oppression which feminism is strongly against. In a discussion with other feminist scholars regarding Beyoncé’s TIME Magazine Cover, Bell Hooks calls Beyoncé a terrorist in terms of the impact that she has on young girls (Coker 1). Hooks based this argument on the grounds that Beyoncé did not have control over the final published image as it was a not a good representation of a woman as powerful, talented, and wealthy as Beyoncé. Hooks believes that Beyoncé should publicize her image in a counter-hegemonic fashion in addition to her current one so that her image is more visibly feminist. Foucault, Femininity, and the Modernization of Patriarchal Power by Sara Bartky outlines how Foucault’s models of societal conditioning can be applied to things like ideal patriarchal beauty. Bartky argues that over time women have become trained to want to achieve the ideal beauty of a society and are shamed in some fashion if they are not able to achieve that. Since Beyoncé has become a household name with an iconic body, her continued hegemonic image makes it very difficult, especially for feminist scholars, to decipher objectively whether or not Beyoncé maintains her current image due to societal conditioning (Bartky 65). Bartky concisely explains that, “Feminine movement, gesture, and posture must exhibit not only constriction, but grace and a certain eroticism restrained by modesty: all three.(67)” That’s a paradigm that Beyoncé’s performances still fit continue to model in certain instances, but that doesn’t necessarily make it a bad model to follow. Bell Hooks does not deny the work that Beyoncé has done for feminism, but recognizes that her body image has a very powerful effect on young minds.
There are also many that share the belief of scholar, Nathalie Weidhase in fact that the impact of Beyoncé’s feminist works should not criticized based on how she chooses to sexualize her body. Artist Annie Lennox’s reaction to Beyoncé’s MTV Music Video Awards performance was that it wasn’t truly feminist because she expressed her sexuality in her performance. This kind of critique becomes particularly problematic when one considers the historical (and ongoing) victimization and dehumanization of black women on the grounds of their perceived hypersexuality (Weidhase 128). Beyoncé dancing in a sexually suggestive manner to juxtapose Adichie’s speech in the background saying how girls are taught they cannot be sexual beings serves as a reclaiming of the black female body (Weidhase 129). The reason that older feminists are having trouble identifying with and accepting Beyoncé’s style of feminism is because it is uncharted territory.
Unlike most of celebrity feminism, the intersections between feminism and hip-hop are still largely debated since there seems to be a fair amount of contradictions between them. The most apparent of contradictions seems to be how ones sexuality is displayed as desired while not being oppressive. Bell Hooks made a very valid point about how young girls will continue to look to Beyoncé’s established image of hegemonic beauty for guidance. While this may be detrimental, it would also be detrimental to silence her sexuality for people who feel liberated by Beyoncé’s ability to be comfortable with her sexuality. One woman cannot be the face of feminism, but Beyoncé has done a great job at opening the gate.
The goal of this addition would be to present Beyoncé's brand of feminism and how it has forced scholars to consider what it means to be a feminist more critically. I am open to any suggested changes to increase cohesion within the article as a whole.

However, make sure you trim it significantly and only add what is the most notable in relation to her feminism in this section, as the text above is far too long to focus on just one sub-section. If it isn't already, you would also need to make sure it is in your own words and not copied from the sources, so as not to violate any copyright restrictions. Politics section - Republican affiliation
Under the Politics header, is reads that "Beyoncé is a registered member of the Republican Party". However, it only cites this article from the Independent as a source--an article that does not cite any sources itself. I can't find any other sources either stating or implying that Beyonce is actually a registered Republican, and considering the original article is a critique of the singer, it might be wise to either find a different source. Or to remove the reference to Beyonce being a Republican altogether.
Moonunit64 (talk) 05:10, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
The article was proven to misquote Knowles purposely to tarnish her image, such as portraying her comments about G.W. Bush's inauguration as if they were about Barack Obama's inauguration. The fact the this is highly unreliable and racial microaggression driven thinkpiece is still up in the sources to back up unconfirmed claims is why wikipedia is still frowned upon in terms of veribility among scholars. --2A02:810C:8C0:22C8:E410:E6D5:EB4A:CA20 (talk) 13:55, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
- Removed: Agreed. I remember reading this source on the day it came out as it was one of many of the post-VMA think pieces. Some internet research suggests the idea that Beyoncé is Republican springs from a rumour created in 2006 when she performed at George W Bush's inauguration. However, there is no other article I can find that sets this in factual terms (e.g. Beyoncé/her family saying she was Republican or someone else uncovering such evidence). Furthermore, the evidence is strongly contradictory - the fact that she maintains a very close relationship with Barack and Michelle, her uploading her ballot to confirm her support of Obama in his last presidential campaign and her recent engagement with Clinton's campaign would suggest she does not have ties to the Republican party. There is also an article from Contactmusic where Beyoncé denies she is Republican, although I'm not sure this was picked up elsewhere. Regards, —JennKR | ☎ 14:24, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Lemonade (film)
The short film is definitely notable enough for its own article. kencf0618 (talk) 05:36, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'd put up an article, but it was summarily merged back. Now I see that there's more about the film than the album. WP:DueWeight?kencf0618 (talk) 22:45, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
Net Worth
There seems to be contradiction between her net worth on the page. Forbes has estimated Beyoncé's net worth for 2015 to be $215 million. However, this contradicts statements made by Beyoncé as being worth $1 billion between her and husband Jay-Z. It also contradicts articles that reference her and said husband as being worth $1 billion in other cited articles on the page. Also, according to CNN Money, her net worth was listed as $440 million in 2014 (http://money.cnn.com/2014/12/02/luxury/richest-recording-artists/). It does not seem feasible that she lost more than half of her net worth within the past year without reasoning.

Please remove "...prompting Minister Louis Farrakhan to offer Beyoncé the protection of the Fruit of Islam, the Nation of Islam's security sector," because this information is overly impertinent to this article. This addition also implies that Beyonce has some kind of relation with the Nation of Islam. A better addition to add detail to the subject of the police boycott is WHY the police threatened to boycott, which is because the song "Formation" had a message about police brutality.

Please remove this portion from the Lemonade section: "Part of the controversy stemmed from a false impression that Beyoncé's music prior to that moment was never political or attempting to influence any social issues." 1) It violates NPOV and 2) it uses Twitter as its source and twitter is not a reliable source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:BC2D:A090:3547:9104:7718:66D3 (talk) 11:12, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
Recent Beyoncé image
This should be the main image for the Beyoncé article because it is more recent and better than the one currently in use, that image shows her covering her breast which is ridiculous, also the recent image was uploaded and the license passed before the Flickr user changed the license back to All rights reserved. Change "On April 4, 2008, Beyoncé and Jay Z married without publicity." to "On April 4, 2008, Beyoncé and Jay Z married in New York without publicity."

Add "Beyoncé waited until she finished the album before she told anyone about it, including her manager and record label." after this sentence "Beyoncé's second solo album B'Day was released on September 4, 2006, in the US, to coincide with her twenty-fifth birthday." Source: [2]

Associated acts
I'm sure that Solange Knowles should be included as an associated act in the infobox, in the same way that Jay Z is. They're both members of Beyoncé's family. TheKaphox T 18:02, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- Not per {{Infobox musical artist}} it does not. Simply because Jay Z happens to be family does not mean all of her family member should be included. livelikemusic talk! 03:12, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- Family connections do not necessarily mean closely associated musical business connections. The guideline is found at Template:Infobox musical artist#associated acts where it says that Beyoncé's associated acts would be "groups of which she has been a member" (Destiny's Child, of course) and other musical acts with which Beyoncé has collaborated on multiple occasions. Since Jay Z and Beyoncé have co-headlined a tour, On the Run Tour (Beyoncé and Jay Z), not to mention other collaborations, Jay Z should be listed as an associated act. Solange not so much. Binksternet (talk) 03:50, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Hi there,
I am a student learning how to work on Wikipedia. I`ve noticed that under "ventures" section, there is nothing being mentioned about Ivy Park collection by Beyonce. Considering that this line has got incredibly popular and there are enough resources about it online, I think it should be added to her article. Thanks for consideration! --Asopeltseva (talk) 20:16, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Change "Throughout a career spanning 19 years, she has sold over 100 million records as a solo artist,[8] and a further 60 million with Destiny's Child,[9][10] making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time."
Add, "Throughout a career spanning 19 years, she has sold over 190 million records as a solo artist, and a further 80 million with Destiny's Child, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time."[1]

different sections that can be added
looking through this webpage i seen you had a lot of hit songs beyonce had. i think that was a good idea, but adding those to one section in the Wikipedia page might help it flow together better. but that was a good timeline of her singing career. Then you focus more on other things like charitable work she did and her relations with other artist her worked with. I think the section about her personal life was good, you could add in there more about their daughter blu ivy and things she does like walking the red carpet with her mother. her trying to make friends with other famous people's babies like having play dates with northwest. Beyonce's career with husband Jay-Z
Back in 2003, Beyonce was a guest artist in one of Jay-Z's songs "Bonnie and Clyde." Even though they were only boyfriend and girlfriend at the time, Beyonce used her fame from her rapper boyfriend to launch her solo career with the hit single "Crazy in Love." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kellyanntaylor (talk • contribs) 03:31, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

The Deity Oshun
@Celestina007: There's no way the clothes she wore once merits an entire section in the article. I doubt it merits even a mention. --NeilN talk to me 00:31, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- @NeilN Thank you for even bothering to create this, i appreciate your efforts. As per WP:YESPOV we are enjoined to report with neutrality all that pertains to the subject of the article, but as the days have gone by and my fundamental knowledge on editing BLP's increased, the policy WP:RSUW now makes sense to me and even though a few reliable sources may report a certain event about a subject, sometimes it is too small and insignificant to affix it into the encylopedia. You being an Administrator, you may often observe (what i have observed) that certain stated guidelines or policies do contradict themselves as so i believe (in my opinion) that was the reason the policy WP:COMMONSENSE was created. We often seem to have different views about everything but nothwithstanding, there is a reason you are Administrator, and of a truth you do a good work. I politely ask you to continue being patient with New editors as sometimes even the very elite editors get confused and make mistakes. Celestina007 (talk) 22:29, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
- I agree with NeilN, and the best source I could find covering this matter says that there were diverse religious influences on this "goddess" costume. See this Washington Post article. Focusing so much attention on one Nigerian goddess is a matter of undue weight. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:57, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- The (bit of) policy that applies here seems to be WP:PROPORTION. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:58, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- I agree. The text added sounds like it would be more in place in the "celebrity features" section of the Daily Mail, not an encyclopedia. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:41, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

AllMusic sidebar
We don't use AllMusic sidebar genres because they are unreliable. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources.
So when looking at AllMusic's biography of Beyoncé, the prose review is the focus. It starts with the fact that she is "the biggest R&B superstar of the 2000s and 2010". Binksternet (talk) 14:44, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
Cajun descent?
If Beyoncé is a descendant of Acadian leader Joseph Broussard, wouldn't that make her of Cajun descent as well? I mean didn't this Acadian exile created the Cajuns in Louisiana in the first place? Savvyjack23 (talk) 07:47, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

I noticed there has been some editing about when Bey's career started. Considering she got signed to her first record deal in 1995 with Grass Roots, couldn't that be an option as well? --Nk3play2 my buzz 23:36, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Beyonce's worldwide sales
Since Beyonce has been added to the 100 million section in the best selling music artists page, it should be added to her profile that she is one of the top 40 (at number 40) best selling music artists of all time, that is at least until her sales are updated again. Britney influenced by Beyonce
I think you should write off Britney from the list of artists Beyonce has influenced. The citation clearly says Britney was "inspired" by Beyonce's surprise album release, which should not be equated to as Britney being "influenced" ny Beyonce. "Influence" and "inspire" may have similar connotations but not synonymous definitions, especially not in this context where Britney only alludes to being inspired by one of Beyonce's career move and hence should not be i terpreted as Britney's artistry being influenced by Beyonce. Beyonce has sold 200 million records WorldWide as a solo artist. It has been confirmed you can type in Beyonce records sold worldwide and the answer is given as clear as day, so Beyonce worldwide records sold as a solo artist should be updated on this as well out of accuracy. Along with Beyonce and Solange being the first sisters to ever have number 1 albums debut atop the 200 billboard charts (Beyonce: Lemonade album and Solange: Seat at the table albums respectively) in the same year! It was stated in Beyonce early childhood section but not correctly with that being said these are the only issue I seen that needed to be updated correctly Thank You X MalikDye (talk) 23:28, 5 December 2017 (UTC) MalikDye (talk) 23:28, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Beyoncé is an Icon for many, she is an inspiration to all. Yet, she is the most secretive artist in the industry. Especially for her to be at the for front of attention at all time she has maintained a really personal life. If anything is out in the open its because she wanted it to be known. However, if you want any real current information about Beyoncé than you should go to her Instagram.Cite error: There are <ref>

Hello! I would like to add the following submission under the "Personal Image" tab:
With Beyoncé being widely known for, shalissa, the use of her body in music videos and on stage, questions about her image as also being a so called “feminist” are raised. The conversation sparked during 2014 when the artist embraced the term verbally and visually on stage during performances of her song “Flawless”. The song itself is all about female-power and includes spoken word from Nigerian feminist writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Beyoncé is quoted in a interview with ELLE Magazine stating that, “I put the definition of feminist in my song [“Flawless”] and on my tour, not for propaganda or to proclaim to the world that I’m a feminist, but to give clarity to the true meaning”. Beyoncé proposes that she is giving feminism the spotlight that it deserves, and having society realize that feminism is not only for women to be involved with, but that it is for everyone. To the artist, feminism is about fighting against sexism and gender inequality and being able to do so regardless of one’s femininity or masculinity. (All from https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/beyonc%C3%A9s-first-in-depth-interview-in-years-is-all-about-feminism_us_5703dc89e4b0daf53af0e765) The topic of Beyoncé and being a feminist has also sparked some controversy in that some of the singers actions speak louder than her words. In being a sex-symbol, Beyoncé’s body can be seen as another pawn in thrown into the “male gaze” with her dance moves and skin-tight outfits. For this reason and that of the singer adopting her husband’s last name on her 2014, “Mrs. Carter”, tour name, feminists have called Beyoncé out on her “feminist values”. They question how she can talk about standing with women empowerment and their liberation when she appeals to her audience “nearly half naked” and sings about catering to men at one moment and then about being independent in the next. The play on her sexuality is also question in that her sex appeal falls into that of stereotypical black women as submissive and sensual.
