Need for copyedit, infobox
editThis article is in dire need of copyediting, and I'm not at all sure the footnoting is done properly, as the article seems to present a lot of fringe/popular theories about Bhoite origin, etc. Furhter, the "Details" section is very clunk in-line text, but would probably display well in an infobox. I'm also not reassured by the dearth of online sources (which we can easily verify); this clan seems notable enough that there should be plenty of books on GoogleBooks covering the subject. Ongoing cleanup
editThe originator and I are collaborating to polish and refine this article. Today I've done the following:
- Added columns to the References to make them lay out better
- Reordered the "infobox" (not really a true infobox, but will suffice until we develop a permanent version), moved flag to top of box, moved box to top of page. Cut out "Gotras" as too long for the box and put it back in the article. Removed over-explanation in titles in box
- Using http://reftag.appspot.com , standardised the citation format for all the sources, and for several of the References
- Article still needs copyediting, primarily ensuring proper punctuation, capitalisation, and spacing. MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:26, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Serious concerns about sourcing
editI've been checking out the sourcing, and I'm finding a bunch of online references cited where the name "Bhoite" (and all other spellings) do not appear at all. Are the references wrongly cited, or is this WP:Synthesis where an editor reads "Some Maratha tribes did XYZ" and so puts "The Bhoites did XYZ" by extension? This is a serious concern, and if the issue cannot be addressed the article should be wiped and written afresh, if indeed the sole name itself is at all notable as a separate topic, which I am not convinced it is. Thoughts? MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:45, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Reply
editI have checked my article Bhoite and i got surprised that other editors reverted my content without noticing me.Now, i am again writing this article with your guidelines.
- They aren't "my" guidelines, just standard WP policies. Again, you have a great enthusiasm for this topic, but it does really need to be tempered with a standardised approach. Even the best information can't be effectively spread if it isn't properly formatted, copyedited, and clearly sourced. As mentioned before, the RefTag application is a great way to apply footnotes. When looking at GoogleBooks, just copy the URL from your address bar into http://reftag.appspot.com and it'll automatically produce a footnote. Do note though, if you're using "snippet view" you need to manually type which page number you want in the citation, and hit the "make citation" button again. Feel free to drop me a line if you need any tips on learning how to use RefTag. It'll save you a lot of time typing footnotes, and will make it easier for other people who want to study the original sources. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:39, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
Bhoites Origine
editSir, Know that Bhoites are Solar Clan. How ? As per Hinduism, Oldest and Primarily Dynasty is Suryavanshi or Solar clan. When King Yadu hailing from Solar background established his own line. Hence, Their followers came to be use Yadav or Yaduvanshi. Similar to this King Brahmavarma hailing from this background so his descendant claimed being Brahmavanshi. They also worshipped God Brahma. I mean to say that all dynasties like Agnivanshi, Chandravanshi, Raghuvanshi, etc. are from Primarily Solar dynasty. However, God Worship is different as Shri Mahadev, Surya, Chandra, Brahma etc. Another tribit for you that Clan of Jadhavs are actually Yadavs but when they migrated to Maharashtra claimed Koundinya Gotra while in North india they used Atri Gotra. Similar to this Chalukyas of two types by bdynasty viz. Chandravanshi and Suryavanshi. Parmar or Pawars claimed being Somvanshi and Agnivanshi. My effort here to say you that about origine of certain clan you must consider these theories in reality showed in different sources. About Bhoite they are solar clan, who ruled jaisalmer by name of Bhati migrated to maharashtra and named Bhoite. also know that there is a King of Bhati descent named Rai Bhoi or Bhoe perhaps Bhoite ancestor ? Chittourgarh ruled by Mores in 705 Before that there is ruler by the name Dorik descent of Brahmavarma, hailing from solar line but he worshipped god brahma and continued to dynasty of his forefathers name, means Brahmavansha. Hence, Brahmavansha or Harinansha or Yaduvansha are originated quite commonly to Solar to agnivansha , Raghuvansha. Hence, it is proved that no matter about assigning Solar clan title to Bhoites being Bhati Descent, being follower of King Brahmavarma or his descent Dorik. All theories are correct. I want to produce evidents of this clan to show you how every claim is related to every theory and they are correct. Can i post these sources on my blogger site to you.
