Dams in Maharashtra
editThis list does not have any information about this dam? --Shanmugamp7 (talk) 04:12, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- Looking at this nearby dam and the map (left side) on this page, it appears this small dam and reservoir at not listed at all. It exists as "Bhushi Dam" though.--NortyNort (Holla) 17:47, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Shanmugamp7: and @NortyNort: The dam is not officially considered a dam since it's only purpose was to feed steam engines. I do have a question. Can we find a source for Indrayani River being impounded and construction being completed in 1876? I want to take this article to DYK. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:14, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- I didn't find anything direct but Gazetteer of the Bombay Presidency says As the water of the Indrayani, which runs outside the Lonavla station-yard, was insufficient during the hot weather, a reservoir was built at a considerable cost at Bhushi about two miles to the south of Londvla from which an abundant supply of fresh water is now available.--Shanmugamp7 (talk) 17:15, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Yes. I added that this afternoon. I can't find any mention of 1876 though. Where did you arrive at that from? -_Rsrikanth05 (talk) 18:16, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- My apologies. I confused Bhushi Dam with neighboring Lonvala Dam. I did some in-depth research and can't find a good date. Usually there are some good 'British' books on this stuff. On Google Earth it looks like the dam is on a tributary creek to the Indrayani as well, not actually on the main stem.--NortyNort (Holla) 21:19, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Ah ok. It's alright. I can remove it as the article is of sufficient length. As fr being on the Indrayani, I have used the ref provided by the Gazetteer of Maharashtra/erstwhile Bombay presidency. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:42, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
