Tim Armstrong and Why Do You Want Him info incorrect

"In April 2011 via Twitter he confirmed he is related to Tim Armstrong of Rancid"

Um, LOL! He was clearly joking with that tweet. He's said many many many times that they're not related. The tweet was a joke, he was teasing all the foolish people who still think they're related and providing a laugh for all the people who know they're not. This false info should be removed.

Also Billie has never said that Why Do Do Want Him? is about his stepfather. He has, however, specifically said that it's *not* about his stepfather when he was asked if it was. Again could someone remove this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sleazing (talkcontribs) 15:07, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

i actually know Bille Joe Armstrong personally, and he says that "Why Do You Want Him" was about his stepfather. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dustbunny321 (talkcontribs) 02:28, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, such first-/second-hand knowledge is not acceptable sourcing, because it can't be readily verified. We'll need a published source to support the assertion. —C.Fred (talk) 15:16, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Well then Dustbunny he must have been lying when he said "no" when he was asked if it was about his stepfather during a Times Talk interview a few months ago. I don't know enough about this place to edit an article lol, any chance of someone removing the Why Do You Want him thing from the Early Life section? And also the ridiculous Tim Armstrong claim in the Personal Life section, it's really making the page look silly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.184.72.225 (talk) 01:37, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Incorrect information

It has come to my attention that there is some incorrent information on here, such as, it says his father died on September 10, 1981, when he was 10 years old, the year he died should be changed to 1982, it also states on here that he was 12 when he met Mike Dirnt, but if you watch interviews with them they say that they met each other at 10 years old, and it's says that the demo tape they recorded with Sean Hughes was featured at the end of Green Day's Kerplunk!, this is not true, what's featured and the end of Kerplunk! is their Sweet Children EP from 1990, Sean Hughes left Green Day in 1988, so that is not true, this should be changed too. --Chickenguy12 (talk) 05:36, 31 July 2010

And I also heard that they met a few months before his father's death, but I'm not really sure if it's the truth or not.

His father died on the 16th of September 1982 according to a picture on Billie Joe's Instagram account.

Hi, I deleted: -heavy metal: because he used to like not play it when he was young. -hard rock: he never played that. any source? -new wave: he only helped the new wave band "the network"

And I added Garage Rock, because that's what The Foxboro Hottubs play. --Revilal90 (talk) 16:03, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

No, he didn't just help The Network, he was in The Network, so re-add New wave, also, he did used to play heavy metal when he was a kid, and he played hard rock, so i re-added those. --Chickenguy12 (talk) 09:38, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Actually, he did play heavy metal. Him and Mike used to do metal covers under a couple of names including "Condom", "Blood Rage", and I think "Trebuchet" but I can't be sure on that one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.37.229 (talk) 04:58, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi,i suggest you to look at the video of Green Day's new song "The Forgotten" pay attention to the guitar solo. It sounds quite hard rock-inspired. This could help you settle the question about Billie playing hard rock and heavy metal. In the first episode of Season 4 (2012) of the Showtime show 'Nurse Jackie', Billie Joe Armstrong makes a guest appearance as "Jackie's Pickup" who later over doses and dies in her living room. This should be added to the media appearances list. Here are the verifiable sources.

Incorrect info about pickups

It claims under the portion about his guitars that his Bill Lawrence pickup in "Blue" was destroyed at Woodstock '94 and was then swapped out for a JB Model. Footage of Woodstock '94 clearly shows, however, that "Blue" was fitted with an unidentified white humbucker at the time of the performance, and not the black Bill Lawrence dimebucker he had used in the band's early days. Additionally, this pickup was not destroyed as a result of the mud-fight, and Armstrong used it for a few months before switching to an SH-4.

Billie Joe picture in Instruments section.

Is it possible to change the picture or add another picture with actual blue? The guitar in the picture is Azul not a copy of Blue. Preceding unsigned

I just now noticed the difference and looked into it. The pic from 2009 seems to show the original "Blue" Fernandes Stratocaster (note the smudgy fretboard!). The pic from 2010 shows a far less "road worn" replica of unknown origin, since there's no visible company markings.93.200.9.93 (talk) 11:13, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Instruments

The amount of instruments listed as being notable is absolutely absurd. Very few of those he has used often enough to be considered 'notable' in the standard way - the guitars that come to mind are the Fernandes Stratocaster, Blue, his Les Paul Jr's (notably Floyd) and the J160. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.240.4.25 (talk) 22:36, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Very young and good looking?

can someone please put' he is a very young and good looking man' in there? stating facts... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natlovesbillie (talkcontribs) 15:44, 22 January 2012‎ (UTC)

First, he's arguably not that young; besides, his age is stated in the introduction to the article. Good looking is far too much of an opinion to be included; the article needs to stay to items from neutral point of view. If he were in People magazine's list of sexiest people, that would be a different matter. —C.Fred (talk) 22:04, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

One could put "he is often considered to be good looking" but not "he is good looking" because the latter would be considered an opinion. Heavy Metal Lego (talk) 18:27, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Change "He toured with this guitar from the band's early days and still uses it to this day, Both middle and neck pickups are disconnected and the pickup selector locked in the bridge position." to "He toured with this guitar from the band's early days and still uses it to this day. Both middle and neck pickups are disconnected and the pickup selector locked in the bridge position." BowlSeller (talk) 17:49, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

He's not from the UK at all. He was born in Rodeo, California. Moonbeam102 (talk) 23:30, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Change “he is a guitarist and singer-songwriter who released his first material online in 2015 and currently plays with the band Mt. Honorary "Italian" citizenship

I removed the honorary Italian citizenship from the infobox. The source and the certificate in the image show that this was not honorary citizenship of the Italian Republic but of one town, similar to the concept of Freedom of the City in the UK and Key to the City in the US. Also the certificate shows that the power has been exercised by the town council, while matters of nationality are reserved to the Ministry of the Interior.

In the same edit, the categories regarding Armstrong's non-Italian heritage has been removed as it is not sourced on the page, nor WP:CATDEF proof that they are relevant, not just "true". Unknown Temptation (talk) 15:25, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

change to 'former American musician'. he renounced his citizenship.

I think we need to wait and see if that's binding or just a publicity stunt. That will determine whether we remove the word "American", change the wording to "from the United States", add an explanatory note, or do nothing. —C.Fred (talk) 14:33, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
Legally speaking, you renounce to your citizenship via a Relinquishment of United States nationality. Unless it is approved, Armstrong is still an American citizen. (CC) Tbhotch 17:41, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Fix the Instruments Section

It's a complete mess. Such as "Armstrong replace the L500XL" and " this also apply " — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:187:C080:3B00:D0E9:B9CB:9BF4:F832 (talk) 00:16, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
