Former good articleBjörk was one of the Music good articles, but it has been removed from the list. There are suggestions below for improving the article to meet the good article criteria. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

1985–1992: The Sugarcubes, marriage and motherhood

[edit]

This section does not actually contain any text regarding Björk's marriage or motherhood. That information appears only near the end of the article, in the "Personal life" section.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Tfeledy (talkcontribs) 19:35, 25 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Bad faith edits on 1 March 2022

[edit]

There are two edits (so far) made in bad faith (and poor taste) on 1 March 2022 (details below). This page should be reverted to the previous edit by Nyxaros on 24 February 2022.

Edits made in bad faith:
17:22, 1 March 2022‎ 78.0.109.105 talk‎ 148,607 bytes −34‎
17:21, 1 March 2022‎ 78.0.109.105 talk‎ 148,641 bytes +31

This section can and probably should be removed after reverting the main page. Thanks. 24.4.161.86 (talk) 17:53, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello,
I have canceled the vandalism. Thanks!

Split off Lopez stalker stuff into a separate page

[edit]

suggestion to split off the Lopez stalker discussion to a separate page. Its really not about Bjork but about someone with delusional fantasies about her public persona.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8080:1F04:2F00:3D0F:4DAF:6649:59AC (talk) 22:22, 20 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Impact/influence

[edit]

I can't devote time to this at the moment, but this is a little nudge to any of the 500+ editors watching this article to start creating an impact section as Bjork has influenced an array of artists in modern popular music. Lapadite (talk) 05:52, 12 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Years active (1968-present???)

[edit]

In the infobox it says she's been active since 1968, given she was born in 1965 this would mean she was 3 years old. I can't find any info supporting this in the article or elsewhere and older revisions put it at 1975 and 1977 respectively. Does anyone know if this is accurate? 1mikeymouse1 (talk) 02:54, 4 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I also have no idea where this information comes from. Theys York (talk) 00:36, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

"known mononymously as Björk"

[edit]

i was going to go in and remove this part of the article until i saw the warning, so i would like to discuss why i think that tidbit should be taken out. also, i think this is my first time starting a conversation on a talk page, so if i happen to be doing something incorrectly please let me know!

first off, in icelandic culture people are usually only referred to by their given name rather than their given name AND patronym or matronym, even in formal settings, which is due to icelandic naming customs. so, if you are referring to someone named björk guðmundsdóttir, you would simply call them björk, unless you need to use their second name for clarity reasons or something of that sort. also, on many other articles of people famously known by only their given name, they aren't explicitly explained to be "known mononymously" (ex: Rihanna, Zendaya, Adele, Beyoncé, etc.), so i think its fair. i am personally a big respecter of the page previews as well and i like to get as much information out of a page preview as possible, so if we decide to get rid of the mononym note there would be more space for more immediate and more important information if that makes sense. i just think in all of that, the mononym fact is implied and i could do without it.

thanks for your consideration <3 ~2025-43622-71 (talk) 23:58, 28 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

I checked the comparable biographies linked above, and I agree that the “known mononymously” note is not used with other mononymously known figures. These articles typically provide the subject’s full name at first mention and then default to the given name, rather than the surname. For example, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Zendaya, and Adele are not referred to by Knowles-Carter, Fenty, Stoermer-Coleman, or Adkins BECAUSE we know them mononymously.
The same logic applies here: people don't call Bjork Guðmundsdótti. I am an American who does not listen to her music, and even I know that. Following the initial full name, “Björk” is the natural and unambiguous form used in English-language sources. Therefore, I support removing the mononym note as it is redundant, see (MOS:LEAD). I actually just saw this in the article and came here to see if there was a discussion, and lo and behold! I agree this should be removed. In addition to what the other two editors have said, it's also redundant. One, Wikipedia rarely if ever makes explicit note of a person using a shortened or clipped form of their name; we don't say William Jefferson Clinton, known professionally as Bill Clinton or Clive Staples Lewis, known by his initials C. S. Lewis, we trust that a reader will understand that by virtue of the article title being that. Two, there is already a hatnote explaining that Björk is known by and refered to with her given name.
Seeing as how this discussion has been open for months and the only responses have been supporting a removal, I am going to go ahead and make the change. — Kawnhr (talk) 19:36, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Lede photo

[edit]

The lede photo should be one in which her face is clearly visible, and certainly not one in which she is in a mask. Anonymous44 (talk) 20:17, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
