GA question
I am mulling picking up this article for review but given I’ve had past history on this page I’m not sure if that makes me...biased or something. Rusted AutoParts 04:19, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
- It depends on if you have made significant contributions to the page, which I guess is up to you to make a judgement call. - adamstom97 (talk) 05:17, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
- Per Xtools, you've made 29 total edits to the page, representing 0.7% of the total edits. At least 13 of those were reverts of vandalism or unsourced material. Only three of your edits were over 100 bytes, and the current article is 286,578 bytes. I think you're sufficiently uninvolved to do the review. Argento Surfer (talk) 11:38, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Typo
It currently states that Black Panther had “CG effects” and not “CGI effects” Butleration (talk) 07:35, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- "CGI" stands for "computer-generated imagery", so "CGI effects" wouldn't make sense. "CG effects" is correct. El Millo (talk) 08:11, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Additional article
A Chinese publication, Sixth Tone, published:
- Davis, Niesha (2018-03-09). "Can 'Black Panther' Change Chinese Attitudes Toward Race?". Sixth Tone.
This could be a source though I don't know if it fits WP:WEIGHT in this article. Wikipedia:Perennial sources states that: "Sixth Tone is usable for general non-political topics, such as Chinese society and culture." WhisperToMe (talk) 04:41, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Death
So, how is Boseman's passing going to affect the future portrayal of this character?
Just a thought. 2600:8800:785:8500:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 14:17, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- We will have to wait and see. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 14:48, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
It is a horrible time but let's stick to the facts, there has been no announcment on how this may affect the sequel. We don't know if it will still happen or not, and lets not quote tabloid papers speculating with no information. SenorKristobbal (talk) 17:56, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Vibranium
The current page states:
By October 2013, the metal vibranium, which comes from Black Panther's home nation Wakanda, was introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe;[82] Marvel had considered showing Wakanda itself as early as Iron Man 2 (2010), but were waiting until they had "a full idea" of how to depict it.[10]
Vibranium was introduced to the MCU in Captain America: The First Avenger, released in July 2011.
While they may not have shown Wakanda in Iron Man 2 (as in being in the country), it was shown to be highlighted on a map while Tony and Nick Fury discuss his suitability for the Avenger Initiative.
Both of these items can be seen in a video promoting Black Panther, narrated by Chadwick Boseman himself. It can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL_OftoO_Ok
Sequel logo
@Facu-el Millo: The logo meets all the requirements of WP:LOGO and complies with our fair use requirements. You mentioned the significance requirement in your reversion, as you can see from WP:NFC#CS:
- Two of the most common circumstances in which an item of non-free content can meet the contextual significance criterion are:
- where the item is itself the subject of sourced commentary in the article, or
- where only by including such non-free content, can the reader identify an object, style, or behavior, that is a subject of discussion in the article.
...this image would qualify as the item itself is the subject of the sourced commentary in the article
, and only by including the non-free content can the reader identify an object ... that is the subject of discussion in the article
. Was there any other reason you had for excluding the logo? —Locke Cole • t • c 22:01, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Locke Cole: It isn't the
subject of the sourced commentary in the article
though. This article is about the film Black Panther, not the sequel. The logo is therefore disallowed on this article as a WP:NONFREE image, and should go on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever article when published. IronManCap (talk) 22:05, 10 May 2021 (UTC)- Also, it isn't true that
only by including the non-free content can the reader identify an object.... that is the subject of discussion in the article
. It isn't the subject of discussion as it isn't what the article is about, and it isn't needed for depiction as there is no infobox or anything like that. Just wait till Draft:Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is published, and we can add the logo there, properly sourced. IronManCap (talk) 22:08, 10 May 2021 (UTC)- There's also no sourced commentary of relevance here. Locke Cole just added that a logo was released. Per WP:FILMMARKETING, merely stating the existence or release of trailers, posters, or logos isn't notable, and there isn't notable commentary for this logo, which still wouldn't be relevant enough for this article if it existed, since it isn't about this article's subject. —El Millo (talk) 22:11, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- Well, I strongly disagree with your interpretation of it, but I'm also not willing to edit war further over it. You win. —Locke Cole • t • c 22:36, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Please fix up link for Erik Stevens to go to Erik_Killmonger page instead of blank entry in Characters_of_the_Marvel_Cinematic_Universe page. That way preview would not show "There was an issue displaying this preview"
I suggest keeping the Erik Stevens text. 108.7.1.21 (talk) 02:43, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
- Not done: Erik Stevens (Marvel Cinematic Universe) does not redirect to a blank section, it redirects to the section on Characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: M–Z about the character. It does not link to the article about the comics character per the reasons outlined at WP:MCULINKS. InfiniteNexus (talk) 05:39, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
Listed as "Ninth" Highest Grossing Film
I noticed that Black Panther is currently listed as the ninth highest grossing film of all time, and when I went to edit it I saw that a previous user added a request that it not be changed as this was its "peak" position. The film is now the 15th highest grossing. Why would we not change the article to reflect this, especially in the top three paragraphs? Flubberpuff (talk) 20:35, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- Context matters. It literally says
becoming...the ninth-highest-grossing film of all time
-- ie. peaking at ninth. What happened afterwards isn't as notable. DonQuixote (talk) 22:21, 29 January 2023 (UTC)- Fair enough, I just think it looks silly when the Wikipedia page it links to itself has it listed as 15th Flubberpuff (talk) 05:44, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
