I'm sure Lindsey Lohan's character brings that up.
Changes made
edit- Cleaned up opening paragraph, removed list of ensemble cast
- Placed ensemble cast in template
- Deleted from Trivia: "Most of Lindsay Lohan's scenes are with Sharon Stone, William H. Macy and Elijah Wood."
I don't know where the information about the characters came from, and I also removed the names Ashton Kutcher and Mos Def from the article. Being a film with an ensemble cast, there may be fake names that sneak in, so verify an actor's role before adding. Erik 21:23, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, and for Lindsay Lohan' fans: Do you need to remember that this article is about the movie, not about her.
UM. Ashton Kutcher did have several scenes in this movie, as a drugged-out hippie. He should be added back to the cast list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.142.203.6 (talk) 04:09, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
MPAA Rating
editThere appears to be a user (or users) that keep inserting speculative information about this film and its MPAA rating (which, as of 7 October, it doesn't have yet.) I have removed such information and implore all users to refrain from inserting speculative information on this matter. When there is an official MPAA rating, it will be posted. Movie Ratings?
editIts been out for days now, but the ratings are not posted yet.
Also, could something be said of the politics of this movie? The movie itself seems like a democrat-pat-on-the-back flick, everyone knows Nixon pulled us out of Vietnam and Kennedy and LBJ got us in deeper, yet the film constantly says stuff like "no one left but Bobby" and makes it seem as if he was this great savior that got shot down.
Doesn't help that the director and writer are democrats as well. So can anything be said for the politics of this movie? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.173.63.103 (talk • contribs)
Acutalu does help that we have some demoncrats pumping a film that showcases a Democrat. Still, it's not in wide distribution yet. I generally see Elijah Wood films either at premier or a day after - but this one I've been too busy with Happy Feet stuff to see. Maybe this weekend. And keep those pat-on-the-backs coming. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Edwpat (talk • contribs)
- Any discussion of politics must involve quotes from recognized experts and be written in as neutral a voice as possible to avoid violating both WP:NPOV and WP:NOR. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 18:34, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
There's a difference between escalating a war at its beginning, when victory is possible, and pulling out as a last resort after years of protest and defeat. Kennedy and LBJ escalated the war when it was still popular. Nixon stubbornly kept it going as long as he could, and ordered illegal bombings in Cambodia and Laos. And yes, especially compared to Nixon, Bobby was seen as a savior by many Americans, especially those fighting for civil rights. 76.27.239.216 (talk) 10:25, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Not to mention that Robert Kennedy did explicitly support withdrawing from the Vietnam War. 173.21.159.154 (talk) 03:26, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
Plot outline
editThis really is a cast list that precedes a cast list; we need to work on actually writing a "plot outline". ;) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 19:00, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, but with spoilers since this film has a Surprise ending. edwpat
- Bobby lives??! Okay, sorry, that was tacky... but, yes, I agree. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 20:56, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
He he - Most people reacte with the joke when I make the statement about the surprise ending. I usually say, like Titanic, the surpirse ending is the ship stays afloat. But if you saw the film, you know that there is a kicker. (6 kickers) edwpat
- I haven't seen it yet, but I couldn't pass that one up... ;) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 21:37, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, this plot outline seems the cast list.Jane-21 - 18 December 2006
Fair use rationale for Image:MaryBobby.jpg
editImage:MaryBobby.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
My edits
editIn the infobox, I corrected some errors, added some information, and deleted all opening dates other than the US. I also removed the very lengthy cast list. Customarily the lead actors are listed in the infobox, but in an ensemble piece like this it's impossible to single out any of the performers as being lead players. Since a complete list of the primary cast members is included in the article, I didn't think it was necessary to repeat it in the infobox.
I deleted a couple of unreferenced reviews and added some with links to their sources.
The section about historical accuracy had no references at all. I took some of the data, which is verified in Bobby: The Making of an American Epic, a bonus feature on the DVD, and incorporated it into the "Production" section. I deleted the rest. LiteraryMaven (talk) 17:08, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Slater was not racist in the movie.
editA correction in the article is warranted: Christian Slater didn't get fired because he had a racist attitude, he got fired because he didn't kow-tow to William Macy's personal politics. Slater works with the Mexicans and blacks in a co-operative manner and shares empathy with them. Too many people jump on the "racist" bandwagon for simplistic answers; human interaction is actually much more complex. The movie is a really well done "talk" movie, people are used to seeing a lot of action in movies and perhaps this film was above their heads. The Lindsay Lohan role was stolen from a few pages in the novel "Lawrence of Vietnam", which could be mentioned in the trivia section ("I didn't steal that necklace!"). Estevez actually makes good films--check out his "Repo Man" and "The War at Home". Small films are often better than the big blockbusters. 108.237.241.88 (talk) 06:38, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
