Can rediff.com be cited as a reference? Is it authoritative and objective enough?

Article lacks information about the ramifications in Sweden, including the possible assassination of war materials inspector Carl Algernon.

Also, what the heck is a "crore"? Either link to Indian currency or further explain it. - Added link to crore and the approximate USD amount. The problem is they don't add up, about 4 million was frozen, but 4.6 million was withdrawn? Was this amount withdrawn before they were frozen, and the millions just leftovers? A crore (Rs. XXXcr) is 100Lakh or 10,000,000 (10m). {1 lakh is 100,000. 100lk is 1cr.} Anyone with any knowledge of India would understand this. Though I agree that explaining it the first time, and perhaps giving a USD conversion would be helpful.) Ganpati23 (talk) 05:03, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

it would be nice to have a citation for

The scale of the corruption was far worse than any that India had seen before, and directly led to the defeat of Gandhi's ruling Indian National Congress party in the November 1989 general elections.

"The government did not appeal this decision owing delays in securing an official English translation of the court's decision." - How convenient!! No wonder people can escape with massive corruption in India. When found out just flee to a country that has no treaties with us. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.239.28.224 (talk) 16:18, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I removed the line stating that this article was 'aproved by agnivesh dimri' due to it not having any relevance and possibly being vandalism. 69.165.149.121 (talk) 20:52, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Did any Swedish politicians take kick-backs as suggested at the start of the article?

edit

It says members of both govts got kick-backs, but the only source quoted later is the interview with the policeman in The Hoot 25 years later, and while he claims that the Swedish PM knew what was going on, there's no suggestion in the interview that any member of the Swedish govt. got any kick-back money.

I think this needs to be clarified.

While both are illegal, there is a difference between turning a blind eye to corruption and actively profiting form it. (Before he quit, when the Indian helicopter bribery became public, Berlusconi said it was fine for Italian companies to bribe foreign govts to secure deals.)

I'm not supporting this in any way, but to say members of the Swedish govt got kick-backs themselves requires evidence. If there is, then it should be made clear here - and would probably warrant it's own sub-section for researchers, along the lines of "evidence of Sw politicians taking bribes" - but if not it should be removed.

As it stands, the article implies that both Indian and Swedish politicians profited from the deal (as well as the company) - but the evidence in the article suggests that the Swedish company bribed Indian politicians and that the Swedish govt. covered this up when they became aware of it.

These are not the same things. 188.29.165.187 (talk) 04:59, 9 February 2015 (UTC) Ganpati23 (talk) 04:59, 9 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
