Stellan Skarsgård

edit

Is there a source for the claim that he'll be played by Stellan Skarsgård in the sequel(s)? Thanks! —Locke Coletc 10:49, 21 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

As an aside, another article (slightly different name) was AFD'd last year, which is why I ask (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/"Bootstrap" Bill Turner). —Locke Coletc 10:51, 21 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stellan's casting was announced some time ago. January 2005, to be exact. IGN FilmForce reported his casting in the following two stories:

http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/582/582838p1.html
http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/583/583393p1.html

the latter article cites The Hollywood Reporter as the source for the casting info. Musha 16:38, 21 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ah, thanks. Wish I'd known about this before with the other version that was deleted. :( —Locke Coletc 23:26, 21 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Appearance changes

edit

Perhaps someone should put pictures of "Bootstrap Bill" from different points in the movie, as to show the growth of the sea fauna on his body. For instance, in the beginning of the film, he did not have the starfish on his face, yet later on it was present in throghout the film the barnicles on him amased.--66.24.238.44 03:48, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh yes he did. His first appearance being that in the hold of the Pearl with Jack. You can see the starfish on the side of his face. Perhaps it is fainter than later in the movie but it's definately there. I know because I read that he had a starfish embedded in his face and I looked for it in his first scene. Sure enough, there it was. As I see it, it gets redder throughout the movie. Captain JD Sparrow

He's right, the starfish was there in the opening scene. What wasn't there was the barnacles on his other cheek; those don't emerge until later. Dac 08:52, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't there be a picture of him as a normal human since that is his final known appearance? Emperor001 16:36, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alive on POTC2

edit

There's just one thing I want to know that should be put in the article somewhere: how come Bootstrap's alive in the second film if he most likely got crushed by the ocean water after the curse was lifted in the first film?Jienum 20:37, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

That was answered in Bootstrap's first scene: because he was also cursed by the Aztec gold, he was, as he said, "unable to die", despite the crushing weight of the water which both he and Pintel acknowledged. So when Jones came to him, he accepted 100 years as a crewman in order to escape that fate. Was that not clear in the article?
No it isn't. What I would like to know is how he was still alive when Jones found him if Will and Jack had lifted the curse and removed Bootstrap's immortality. Jienum 20:06, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
He was probably found by Jones before the curse was broken (How else would his appaearance be so noticeably undersea-based?). Of course, he was then sentenced to serve Jones forever in the Liar's Dice scene.

vandalism!

edit

the artical has been vandalised someone needs to revert it and possibly semi protect it--Lerdthenerd 20:35, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

its been vandalised again with point of view, whoever is doing this stop it.--Lerdthenerd 08:11, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

just fixed it someone put "he looks nothing like Stellan Skarsgård" this is not a forum it is an encyclodia.--Lerdthenerd 08:16, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Accent

edit

Is it just me, or does Bootstrap seem to speak with an Irish accent? If he does, then it should be noted, since the article says he's English. Jienum 20:39, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, and on the time-line article it says he's Scottish. This is all getting very confusing. Anyone care to venture 'Welsh', just to complete the set? 213.40.229.135 19:14, 14 October 2007 (UTC)TheSummoningDarkReply

Fair use rationale for Image:AWE Bootstrap.jpg

edit

Image:AWE Bootstrap.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
