I'm not positive Dennehy actually attended Yale. He definitely didn't graduate with an MFA from YDS if he ever went, contrary to what several news sources are stating. In several articles I've read with sections covering his early life, neither he nor the author ever mention him attending Yale. [1][2] In this article, he even says outright, "When I was their age--not that I went to acting school, I never went to acting school--I was a truck driver," in a sentence about students who go to Yale Drama. In these Yale Drama alumni magazines, Dennehy is mentioned in the text in reference to other alumni without any parenthetical of a class year or attendance. [3][4] Can someone find a source saying where this came from? Therequiembellishere (talk) 01:46, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Variety says he has an MFA from Yale here but I remain skeptical, since much of Variety's article sounds like a rewrite of WP. And you’d expect something from Yale about his death, no? Also, there’s no mention of Yale in the NY Times obit. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 03:15, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Is it worth stating this contrast in the article? That while sources (particularly post-death) seem to state he attended/graduated from Yale Drama School, there's no evidence of it? News sources getting their information from Wikipedia and then repeating something false is an issue I never know how to deal with. Therequiembellishere (talk) 14:07, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think it sounds great! I appreciate that it reads in a more conversational and familiar voice, though others might have stronger opinions on how this should be phrased. Thanks for putting it together! Therequiembellishere (talk) 16:39, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
