Brian Houstons has written a book since the one stated as his most recent in the article: it is called 'How to Maximise Your Life' (2013).JAcob is really cool

Not done: According to Amazon, it's not a new book that he wrote, it's a compilation of his five "How To" books which are already mentioned in the article. Books are bundled and re-released all the time, that doesn't mean the author's produced something new. --ElHef (Meep?) 05:47, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

The first reference directs to a blank page http://brianandbobbie.com/about-us If it directed to http://brianandbobbie.com/ it would link to the proper page. Propblockpablo (talk) 05:51, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Not done: The purpose of the reference is to attribute information to a reliable source, even if that source is no longer available. The page indicated likely contained information referenced at the time it was added. Changing the link as requested would reference a redirect as of March 15, 2016.  B E C K Y S A Y L E 05:59, 15 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

From the Hillsong wikipedia page: "According to 60 Minutes Australia, as of November 18, 2018, Brian Houston is under criminal investigation for covering up his father's repeated sexual abuse of children." This should probably be mentioned in the personal section, as it relates to his family, or in a new controversy section, along with the source relating to his ongoing criminal investigation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g2FgAu1NYw&t=8s — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.251.105.194 (talk) 20:10, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Why is there no section discussing the controversies surrounding Houston?

edit

Houston has been involved in a prolonged controversy over his handling of abuse allegations against his father: <https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/nov/19/sex-abuse-victim-pursues-hillsongs-brian-houston-over-crimes-of-his-father> <https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2015/nov/23/hillsongs-brian-houston-failed-to-report-abuse-and-had-conflict-of-interest-royal-commission?CMP=share_btn_tw> Houston has also expressed his opposition to gay equality: <https://www.christianpost.com/news/hillsongs-brian-houston-on-gay-marriage-i-believe-the-writings-of-paul-are-clear-on-this-subject.html> <https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3186593/Do-love-gays-Australian-Hillsong-Church-pastor-confirms-church-won-t-allow-homosexuals-hold-leadership-positions-affirm-lifestyle-blog-post.html> These are important issues to mention, imo. Shrinkydink07 (talk) 07:45, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I, too, would like to know why these issues, which have been widely reported in the media, have been glossed over, and not so much as even addressed by anyone with approval to edit this page?1.156.87.232 (talk) 05:49, 14 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
Why are these crimes which he admitted covering up not mentioned? This is supposed to be about facts not a whitewash. Rustygecko (talk) 08:35, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Seems strange that somebody admits covering up serious crimes against children and its not mentioned. Rustygecko (talk) 08:33, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Rustygecko: If you can find mentions of these crimes in Reliable Sources: WP:RS, feel free to add that information to this article, and thereby improve the article; clearly Wikipedia is not complete and needs efforts of people like you so WP:BEBOLD. ---Avatar317(talk) 20:40, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm presuming you mean Brett Sengstock who after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer has decided to go public with his allegations against Frank Houston, including publicly targetting the Australian PM Scott Morrison's friendship with Brian Houston, Frank's son as "absolutely monstrous" https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/child-abuse-victim-says-australians-prime-ministers-friendship-with-his-kiwi-rapists-son-is-absolutely-monstrous/PEGGRPPMHRNDNNS4PLTHFLEATA/ 132.234.228.177 (talk) 09:53, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Shrinkydink07 and Rustygecko: This seems to be resolved now. There is content in the article that deals with the alleged cover up of information relating to the alleged crimes committed by his late father, Frank. Brian Houston has been charged with an offence. The matter is before the courts and we should presume innocent, until proven otherwise. Content has been added regarding Houston's personal views on homosexuality and SSM. We should be careful to draw distinctions between his personal views and those of Hillsong Church. A fine, yet important, line! Rangasyd (talk) 11:09, 6 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Is it alleged when a Royal Commission has already found you guilty of it? He Admits to the cover up but claims that it was in line with the abused families wishes. Once you admit something it's not alleged. Rustygecko (talk) 17:56, 7 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Rustygecko: A royal commission is a public inquiry. Unless specifically detailed in its terms of reference, a royal commission has no power to prosecute, convict (in your words, find guilty), or sentence any person or body corporate who appears before it, no matter what they have admitted. It is up the recommendations of the royal commission either to the body that appointed it (in this case, the Federal Government) and/or to the relevant state police/Director of Public Prosecutors to determine if charges are to be laid, if prosecution is to proceed and then, up to the applicable court, as to whether the individual or body corporate is guilty of the charges (and sentenced accordingly). If found guilty, as charged, the offences are no longer alleged; they are proven. I hope that helps you understand a little about the presumption of innocence in Australia. Brian Houston is admitting to the fact that he should have alerted authorities. I'm not aware that he has admitted (not that he really could, unless he witnessed the acts) that his father is guilty of the commission of the alleged crimes. Police Minister David Elliotts comments

edit

Police minister David Elliott has unsurprisingly gone on a crusade against Brian Houston including name calling him an “ungrateful twat” in what will obviously be presented in court, should be included in this article (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9873369/Brian-Houston-Hillsong-founder-ungrateful-twat-demanded-special-Covid-treatment.html) 120.29.40.104 (talk) 08:02, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

A Christian believing the Bible is not noteworthy

edit

Why is it noteworthy that he does not believe in homosexuality/gay marriage? Why does an Encyclopedia need to tell us every time a Christian is mentioned that they believe what the Bible says? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.23.218.87 (talk) 18:34, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Probably because some (many?) Christians are sufficiently enlightened to make up their own mind on social issues. WWGB (talk) 00:32, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
That's not what being a Christian is. A Christian is under authority of scripture. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.23.218.87 (talk) 17:03, 9 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Brian Houston (pastor)Brian Houston – As per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, the pastor is the main Brian Houston. In the past 90 days, his article has never gotten less than 100 hits (averaging around 200-300), while Brian Houston (musician) has never gotten more than 10 hits on one day. https://pageviews.toolforge.org/?project=en.wikipedia.org&range=latest-90&pages=Brian_Houston_(musician)%7CBrian_Houston_(pastor) . I suggest we also delete the disambig page and add a hatnote to Brian Houston pointing to the musician. Ich (talk) 11:09, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

He was was accused of inappropriate behavior, not just for covering his fathers up. He had to step down over it. This needs to be public knowledge. He abused his power. 2601:282:700:1770:8040:6F8C:D41C:AA96 (talk) 07:13, 27 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Seal of Confession

edit

In Australia a Priest, or Pastor does not have protection in Australian Law to a Seal of Confession. Therefore, when a person, (in this case Frank Houston), comes to a Pastor confessing his Crime or Sin, and the Priest or Pastor does not report the Crime, then the Priest or Pastor must take the consequences of keeping to their convictions. Would this be something that should be considered in this Article? Easeltine (talk) 21:02, 31 May 2023 (UTC). For the record, the Law Regarding that a Priest or Pastor must report a Crime, (Seal of Confession), came into being in 2020.Reply
