Poster
edit101blazertrail uploaded a "teaser poster" image for this film: File:Brightburn poster.jpg with the source being Movienewz.com, which does not appear to be a reliable source. Presumably the image is from here, but I cannot find this image anywhere else. Considering the attention that fans pay to this kind of thing, with the trailer having received coverage, there has been no mention of a poster going with it. It seems likely to be a promo image framed into a poster shape. I see no reason for Wikipedia to have this image if only one dubious movie website has it. Superhero film?
editWhy Brightburn is called a superhero film, while that boy, Brandon Breyer/Brightburn, spread the terror on its trailer? Rnsevenman (talk) 16:22, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
- It's superhero horror. From the film website: "With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror." Xin Jing (talk) 19:00, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
A superhero uses their powers for good. This is a film about a supervillain.
- It's the genre, not the specific definition. MartinezMD (talk) 23:43, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
My opinion, it is either "exploitation horror" or "superhero slasher" film. Firstly, this movie explicitly tries to exploit a superhero genre, unashamedly borrowing Superman's origin story. Secondly, this movie using all the tropes of slasher movie. Charly says (talk) 22:55, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
- I agree, "superhero" should not be used as any kind of descriptor for this film --- including as a genre label.
- How about "metahuman horror film"? 2600:8800:784:8F00:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 03:29, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- We can't make up our own terms. That would be original research. DonQuixote (talk) 06:21, 29 December 2019 (UTC)

Fix Rotten Tomatoes critic percentage to 71% based on 7 reviews, with an average rating of 5/10. TreeGelbmanFan (talk) 13:08, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
Add WhatFilmy gave Brightburn a mix postive review with two and a half star.
- Done at time of writing, it's 78%, 9 reviews, and 6.25/10, so those are the figures I used to update. NiciVampireHeart 18:05, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

This movie hasn't yet been released in the US. I don't think it's fair to the cast, crew, producers, etc to give away the movie. Please show James Gunn some respect. The plot should be reverted to what was stated prior to the 5/21/19 edit. 98.153.62.120 (talk) 15:55, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
- Not done: WP:SPOILER. NiciVampireHeart 18:05, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
- Agreed. that's not how an encyclopedia works. If you don't want to know the plot, don't read an encyclopedia article about it.MartinezMD (talk) 19:11, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
Who is he
editIs this a extended DC character?? NaroneThomas 44 (talk) 15:00, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
- DC isn't listed as a producer, so unless they're a secret partner (which is certainly possible), no. This would be an independent character. MartinezMD (talk) 19:41, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
cant see how DC isnt involved in this. too many similarities, thus lawsuits would surely ensue. Gizziiusa (talk) 00:33, 27 May 2019 (UTC)gizziiusa
- By no means is it impossible, but until you have a reliable source, it would be speculation. MartinezMD (talk) 01:16, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
Release date
editWhy is the early release date in Mexico and Hungary (and anywhere else) not mentioned? MartinezMD (talk) 00:21, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
Irredeemable reference
editThis feels heavily inspired/influenced by the Plutonian in Irredeemable, a Superman analogue (or, in-universe, inspiration for). It's a bit more obscure (possibly) than the Supreme Power some reviewers have referenced, but it should certainly be mentioned in some way. Perhaps a See also? -- 130.239.26.87 (talk) 12:27, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
- It's as close to an evil Superman as you can get - arrives as an infant in an alien ship, found and raised by a farm couple, strength, speed, flight, heat vision, and invulnerability except for material from his world. I only know the Plutonian from the wiki article but the Plutonian sounds a bit different - he starts as a device/probe created by aliens to study the Earth which transforms into a human, he's raised in a series of foster homes, his powers are psionic, etc. There are some similarities, but that could describe any powerful being terrorizing the Earth. This appears to be influenced more from Ultraman imho. Although I have no objection to a "See also" section with similar characters listed. MartinezMD (talk) 20:34, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
Mask.
editIt's pretty clear he only does evil when he wears the mask. But,there is no explanation anywhere of why. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:5FA1:5FF0:D48F:2B6F:AA91:D89F (talk) 17:09, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
- Not correct. First that comes to mind is when he crushes his classmate's hand he did not have the mask. MartinezMD (talk) 02:33, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
Kenneth Huang
editThe linked Kenneth Huang in the article is a businessman. Is he the same one associated with this film, or is it someone else with that name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1702:4170:2B30:79F6:EB60:A2DA:19EB (talk) 15:10, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
People keep editing this and making it grammatically incorrect
editSomeone should correct the sentencing and plot. It keeps getting changed and the English is incorrect as well as grammar. 72.225.21.20 (talk) 04:54, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
