Poor disambiguation in article titles between two Bruno Coutinhos
editBruno Coutinho (of Goa in India) and Bruno Coutinho (footballer) (of Brazil) are both footballers.
The problem this presents is, I think, self-evident.
But I think it should also be said that the longer it goes on, the longer it will take to undue further potential confusion, as incorrect incoming links seem inevitable; often people edit existing articles, or create new ones, and simply make wikilinks without checking to see if the one they made links to the article they meant it to link to. If it turns blue upon saving, it looks like everything worked out correctly. In cases where it links to a disambiguation page, instead of the article they meant it for, they’ll receive an alert telling them so, at least giving them an opportunity to change it to point to the correct and intended target. But this isn’t the case in links made to non-disambiguation pages that are an inaccurate target (like this one is).
I use an iPhone for editing, which makes it difficult to make edits with any speed. I would like to move this article to another title, and leave this one behind as a disambiguation page, as (it seems to me) that neither person supersedes the other as the primary. But were I to do it, it would likely lead to undue disruption, as it would take me likely days to fix all the incoming links (given I even have those days). I’m also unsure what the best title for replacing the subject of this one should be.
I’m hoping someone with interest in this subject, and who also knows how (and has the means) to do it with minimum disruption sees this. (Back when I had a working PC, this would have been less of a big deal for me to perform, mostly without help from other editors. So, my apologies for my current lack of ability in this regard.)
