IUPAC name

edit

Can anyone find an IUPAC name for this? I'd name it myself, but the one naming convention I cannot grasp is the [x.x.x.x]. Though I continually try to deduce it from looking at heterocyclic compounds.. this being an unusual one though, I think it should get its own template as well. again, a little out of my ballpark. otherwise good article though. Uses?

edit

This article needs a little more for the non-chemist.

What uses does this substance have? Commercial/industrial applications? Desktop novelties for the amateur scientist? Anything?

Is the re-arrangement of molecules even visible to the naked eye?

This particular compound has zero applications, but figuring out how it behaved was impactful, but only for a fairly narrow world of chemists who like "l'art pour l'art". In terms of its dynamic behavior being manifested in the appearance of a sample, the shutter speed of our vision is too fast. When however viewed with lower frequency light (radio waves), the compound can look downright blurry. At least that is my way of explaining it. --Smokefoot (talk) 15:50, 16 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dates make zero sense

According to the article, Jones named "bullvalene" afer Doering's nickname in 1961, but Doering didn't even predict its properties until 1963. Was Jones psychic? IAmNitpicking (talk) 13:42, 26 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
