And the page is finally in shape!

edit

A big congratulations to the wiki editors who helped improved this page to the required standards of a typical Wikipedia biography article! It's really great and am pleased to see that ms. Corbel's page is no longer left abandoned and deserted any more. Personally to say that I've wanted to edit and reshape the whole article myself this year since I previously assumed that there was probably no Wiki editors who knew of this talented musician from Brittany, France. and only just recently have I returned to my job as a wiki editor on Wikipedia, i was very surprised to see this page so well updated and edited that i found it quite impossible to believe, to the extent I might have cried with tears of joy. I remembered the first time knowing of Corbel through Wikipedia - was looking through wikipedia on information for other good ghibli movies that I could watch, all then happened back in 2012. Then I stumbled upon the Arrietty movie page, and saw Corbel's name.

If i were from France, i probably would have heard about her and would have had gone to a concert of hers. But unfortunately I'm about halfway around the world - from Malaysia. So it would make sense that I would never have heard of her, until 2012 when I read about her on Wikipedia. Frankly speaking it is quite saddening to see that most of Corbel's fans are gained through her contribution for the Arrietty film (the film's music score) and not before that. this case just proves how little recognition this talented french lady got from international audiences. I was displeased then to find that her page wasn't informative enough and searching for her on the internet was frustrating enough (or probably because that I wasn't as skilled in using the Google search engine as compared to now) and later gave up looking for her until one year later, which was last year during january, I came upon a copy of the Arrietty movie ost at a music store in a local mall. And then it hit me that "isn't that the ghibli movie with that french lady in it??". I was like thinking "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M ACTUALLY SEEING AN ACTUAL GHIBLI OST IN FRONT OF ME" and wanted to grab it. but didn't in the end, for I feared that i may not like what i was about to hear, since i never heard of Corbel before that and the little info i had found about her on wiki.

i've been entering that music store for 3-4 months and still found the album not been bought by anyone yet (I wasn't going to buy an ost by a nobody then) but later decided to grab it. It took me quite some time to get used to her music because at first, her music sounded so.... 'empty'-like to me. so... different. it was literally very different. it was a whole new experience for me because it lacked all the musical elements I'm used to listening - orchestrated music using symphony orchestras, which i prefer to call it as 'large-scale' music. But she didn't give me a bad impression though. come to think of it, it was actually a good one. a very good one. her style of music is just so different, from the way she incorporates the harp and the minimal use of instruments in them, to her intriguing singing voice in which at first i found it quite squeaky. but that's what sets her apart from typical vocal artists we know like Lady Gaga or Miley Cyrus etc and other well-known composers.

I wanted to listen to more of her music, but remembered how much her page wasn't of help and her info was all over the place on the internet. and finding a copy of her album in Malaysia is highly unlikely. that's when i realized how important it is for us editors to always keep the pages updated with the latest info so that our readers could always be kept up-to-date too.

let us strive to continue our pages, and hope one day all of our pages could reach higher than our current set standards. EnvyDC (talk) 07:28, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

I thought it was sad this page had so little info, and that's why I expanded it. Some of the sections were translated from French Wikipedia. All Cécile Corbel's music is great and she deserves to be more well known. The talk page isn't supposed to be used as a forum so I'll stop there! --Random86 (talk) 19:15, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
oops sorry forgot about that X'D went a lil overboard. XD do you think we should separate her discography from this page to a new page instead? So the page wouldn't appear too congested? And would you feel that if we should create a page for her latest album, La Fiancee??? wait you said you translated from her French wiki... did you used Google translate or do you yourself know French? sorry just curious. XD EnvyDC (talk) 14:50, 5 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I was thinking about splitting the discography to a new page, so I just did that. I don't think her new album needs its own page; at least, not yet. If it charts well and is successful, maybe. I don't speak French so I used online translators, but I still had to rewrite a lot and do my own research. It's hard to find English sources. --Random86 (talk) 17:19, 5 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
oh yeah where did you find the digital download for cecile's fourth album, songbook vol. 4 - roses. couldn't find it anywhere on itunes. EnvyDC (talk) 08:15, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm not the one who put digital download for the Roses album. I took it off, because you're right, it's not available. --Random86 (talk) 09:10, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
