Ab207 can you look into this case? As you have requested a redirect for this article, No such user has made the change [1]. But Reo kwon has again redirected the article to "C.Aswani Dutt" (even this is a grammatical mistake) without proper reason [2], [3]. Also he have altered the top section and removed the name "C. Ashwini Dutt" entirely leaving only "C. Aswani Dutt". So, is this edit acceptable?..... Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 16:51, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have checked the official credits in half a dozen of his films. They are all pretty clear. His English spelling in all his movie credits is "C. Aswani Dutt". There is no other spelling used at all. It is media that is confused which used variant spellings like Ashwini Dutt, Aswini Dutt, Ashwani Dutt, Aswani Dutt etc. You can even check the poster of his recent film Sita Ramam. His name is credited as C. Aswani Dutt, nothing else. The person who moved the page did it without any discussion. Reo kwon (talk) 17:02, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
If so, why don't you wait for the discussion come to a conclusion before making such edits. For you information, you are the one who are changing the long-standing content, so wait until the discussion ends. Until then, don't make any edits.... Granted, I initially did mistake 'Aswani' to be misspelling, hence the TRM. Perhpas it's a deliberate misspelling due to numerology or something. It's far from being clear though, for example, poster of Devadas (2018 film) spells it 'Ashwini' only.
Either way, it'd be better if Reo kwon is able provide any solid source that 'Aswani' is the preferred spelling of the subject rather a variant. We need this because 'Ashwini' is preferred in secondary sources and some of his previous film credits. -- Ab207 (talk) 17:25, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ab207 This guy (Jayanthkumar123 (talk) is stalking my edits. He seems to be pissed that I edited one of his contributions (which I have explained multiple times) and is on a spree to disrupt articles I have painstakingly taken days to create. In this case, some other user has moved the page. I have clearly documented how "C. Aswani Dutt" is his official spelling and all others are media variants, of which there are at least 4 to 5 of them. You can check the credits of his movies going back decades - Indra, JVAS, Ravoyi Chandamama, Sita Ramam; in all those movies C. Aswani Dutt is the spelling used. Ab207 - please move the article to the standard spelling. Reo kwon (talk) 17:29, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, at times it varies. But most of the time, in his movie credits right from the beginning in Yugapurushudu to recent films like Sainikudu C. Aswani Dutt is the most used version. Reo kwon (talk) 17:51, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Alright. So we can say 'Aswani' is used in majority of the film credits while media uses the variants 'Ashiwni', 'Aswini' and 'Aswani' (in that order by the looks of it).
This person is least bothered about the page. He hasn't made any edits on this page before the recent conflict. He clearly has personal issues with me as I have changed one of his edits. He comes to the pages I have put significant efforts to write and disrupt them. I have clearly established the case that in the vast majority of his movies, he is credited as "C. Aswani Dutt". In a few instances (<20%), it is "C. Awsini Dutt". Nowhere is Ashwini Dutt used. Please move the page as per the evidence provided. Jayanthkumar123 is least interested in the page name. His only aim is to take some kind of revenge for what he sees me altering "his content" on S. S. Rajamouli page. Reo kwon (talk) 18:45, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Can you please stop commenting in a wrong way. I have clearly mentioned the reason for every edit on the mentioned article. That's not "my content", rather already long-standing existing one. Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 16:22, 25 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ab207 (talk) We haven't heard from the other people. And we have clearly seen that "C. Aswani Dutt" is the subject's preferred English spelling while the secondary sources use many variants. In light of this, please move the page to "C. Aswani Dutt" name. Thank you. Reo kwon (talk) 11:28, 24 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Reo kwon Let's give them some time to respond. They haven't edited since then, so it's possible they haven't seen the latest discussion. If they don't respond even after that, then we can take it as they abondoned their position. Remember WP:THEREISNODEADLINE. RMs typically run for a week, and here we are trying to wrap it way before that. If you are not convinced that there's going to be reasonable outcome, you are free to open an RM yourself. But I suggest you to be patient. Thanks -- Ab207 (talk) 16:34, 24 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I am okay with the majority, here it's "C. Aswani Dutt". But my main concern is that Reo kwon has removed the other credited names ("C. Ashwini Dutt") in previous edits Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 16:24, 25 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's not about the majority, @Jayanthkumar123. Only 1 out of 3 here was in favour of 'C. Aswani Dutt.' However, the one in favour were able to provide evidence that is the preferred spelling in film credits.
All the various alternative spellings have been added in the lead. @Ab207 As we have seen from the official movie credits, the most preferred English spelling of the subject is "C. Aswani Dutt". And it should be noted that in all the movie credits the Telugu spelling has remained consistent as "సి. అశ్వనీ దత్" which transliterates to English as "C. Aswani Dutt". As mentioned earlier, all the variant English spellings like "C. Aswini Dutt", "C. Ashwini Dutt", and "C. Ashwani Dutt" have been added in the lead. Could you please change the title of the page to "C. Aswani Dutt"? Thank you. Reo kwon (talk) 06:32, 30 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
