Statue of Gandhi

Interesting life and work, on fine sources, no copyvio obvious. Nice to meet you, DaxServer! I suggest that you get the picture of the statue here, for an impression of the statue's size and expression. If you don't know how I can do it for you. I suggest a few minor changes to the article, to make it consistent with other biographies, and I am sure you can make those changes:
  • Children are normally no lead material. Better make a section Personal life, where also his son's achievements could go.
  • The statue could be mentioned in the lead.
  • The summary in the lead should not repeat the wording from the body, - you could say: "He received the ... award ...".
  • The subject's complete name does not have to be repeated in the first section with a paragraph, unless it is different from the one in the beginning and the article title, only the surname.
  • The image of the statue should not be left, because in that position it "sandwiches" the text (squeezed between image and infobox).
  • You could pipe-link Madras to Chennai, Madras, instead of the info in brackets.
  • I'd like a bit of an explanation of what Kamaran means, - yes, there's a link, but for many readers, unfamiliar with Indian culture, it will be a new word, and I expected a profession.
  • Are there topics mentioned that have an article in a different language, "Andhra Academy of Arts, Vijayawada" perhaps? Then we could establish interlanguage links, - I could show you how if you don't know them, {{ill}}.
  • That phrase needs a comma after Vijayawada.
  • There are minor grammar concern, I'll look at that in the next round. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:39, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Nice to meet you too Gerda Arendt. Thanks for the wonderful review! I've made almost all the changes. I couldn't find any language links for the Andhra Academy. I've added the image here, hopefully in the correct format?! :) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 11:08, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Just an FYI, when the statue was installed [a few decades ago (not sure when)], the building was used for Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In 2014, bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh led it to lie in the new state of Telangana and now used by Telangana Legislative Assembly. AP Assembly has a new building near Vijayawada (see Andhra Pradesh Secretariat) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 13:00, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's coming along nicely, thank you! What do you think of using this image which has the statue smaller, but in better light, and showing how great that place is? Next wish: we don't link to current countries, per WP:Overlink. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:17, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I initially thought of using that pic. But used the other one as the statue is closer in the view. Replaced and wishlist fulfilled — DaxServer (t · m · c) 13:28, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Foreign sources accepted AGF. The image is licensed and shows the topic better than 1000 words. I added the required pictured-clause to the hook (but unsure about it's position), and shortened the caption. I also added "the" for Assembly in the hook, - remove if that's wrong. - You may want to go over the prose, and try to smooth sequences of short sentences beginning with "He". Perhaps his Academy work should also be mentioned in the lead and infobox? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:14, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
"at Telangana" would not make sense as it's a state. "in Telangana" is way too broad, "in Hyderabad" might not provide context as we don't have Hyderabad in the hook. Any other caption proposals? — DaxServer (t · m · c) 15:54, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for pointing that out, - I shortened further, - we don't need the same info twice. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:00, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
