WikiProject COVID-19

edit

I've created WikiProject COVID-19 as a temporary or permanent WikiProject and invite editors to use this space for discussing ways to improve coverage of the ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. Please bring your ideas to the project/talk page. Stay safe, --Another Believer (Talk) 17:21, 15 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Alarming growth

edit

Dear editors, I see an alarming growth in the number of cases over the last 10 days, a compound rate of +31%/day. Is there an explanation for this, in the midst of a lockdown? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 23:31, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Now that I have seen the logarithmic charts, it is becoming clear that the apparent growth in total cases is mainly due to expanded testing. So, it shouldn't worry us. We should really look at the active cases to see the trend. While this is also growing, it is not really growing at an "alarming" rate.
The only cause for worry is that the number of recoveries is low. (Right now there are more deaths than recoveries.) This suggests that the health care system is not able to cope. This will become more of a problem going forward. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 23:42, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Changes to graphs

edit

I have made a couple of changes to the graphs:

  • Replaced the daily deaths/recoveries curves by total deaths/recoveries curves. (The former are not particularly useful, and they are so small compared to the total cases that they are practically invisible on the plot anyway.)
  • There was a second chart where only total cases were plotted. (It was confusing as to how it was different from the first graph. It wasn't.) I have replaced this by a logarithmic plot of the same data as in the first graph. This allows us to see the trends better. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 23:36, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Considering splitting the daily reports in a sub article

edit

The daily reports are going to use much space in the page, maybe they can grow in a sub article like "reports timeline"? --78.55.174.240 (talk) 12:57, 3 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request to move the "Table: Daily updates" to a different article.

edit

"Table: Daily updates" increasing the article length without any proper reason and increasing every day. How long should this article be enlarged in this way? It is decreasing readability too. Nafis Fuad Ayon (talk) 08:30, 21 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
