Untitled
editThis page has had a link [1] added twice in the past. I've reverted the edits primarily because the site requires registration to see the photos. The Cadillac Fleetwood page has also been subjected to the same links. --Milkmandan 22:43, 2005 Jan 26 (UTC)
- I think this is an unnecessary link that is being placed to benefit that site rather than Wikipedia, and I support your removal of it. I'm not against reg-required SOURCES if they're high-quality, but not just for external links to galleries. —Morven 23:42, Jan 26, 2005 (UTC)
Why Split The Page Up
editThere are to many images of the Cadillac Escalade. That's why I seperated this page recently. -- Bull-Doser 14:28, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
It's just an SUV. Someone should seriously delete some of these photos. It's not the second coming, it's a vehicle. :-) Sneakernets 08:59, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Need for Speed: Underground 2
editAs I recall it, NFS:U2 had Hummers, Escalades and something else that could be raced against other SUVs.
Pop Culture
edit"The Escalade has quickly become an easily recognizable presence in pop culture. It has been featured in many hip hop music videos, and it may have been the reason for Cadillac's recent popularity among the urban demographic..."
Is "urban demographic" code for black people? If so, why not say so? If not, what does it mean? I suspect this is just an issue for people in the USA, and I'm minded to change this to "black people" because "urban demographic" is meaningless and sounds like a euphemism when there's no need to euphemise. Before I do it your views would be welcome.
Welcome to Political Correctness. While it is accurate to say "the Escalade is a tru-thug-nigga'z ride of choice" it just might strike a nerve with a nobody somewhere as "racist". Only in America. Sneakernets 08:57, 5 July 2007 (UTC) 79.74.53.91 05:36, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Well some eejit has cut out all the reference to pop culture, but there's still loads of stuff about axles and such like. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.67.247.162 (talk) 11:56, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Urban Demographic means it includes wiggers and the like. There are plenty of wannabe thugs who are black, caucasian, hispanic, etc, all of whom might aspire to drive an Escalade. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.197.213.245 (talk) 03:04, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
"I'm rich biatch!", but seriously folks, this is a thug ride, not a specifically African-American car. Yeah, 'urban demographic' is weasely, but saying black wouldn't be accurate. FOARP (talk) 23:08, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
No no, you wanna say "Real Niggamobile vehicle". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.13.185.250 (talk) 22:17, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
pollution of the environment
editI wonder why there is not any mention that this automobile is one of the worst air polluter? This article is more an online promotion without environmental conscience. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.131.252.192 (talk) 12:50, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Give us some specs on emissions; the article can always use more hard info. Perhaps linked to a page on the Escalade Hybrid, the company's attempt at a 'greener' car. POV about the 'worst polluter' should be avoided in the article, tho. 138.210.46.171 (talk) 08:25, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's not POV if it is a fact and presented without editorialization. Cremastra (talk) 19:46, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Generation years and images
editThis is a forum to discuss changes made by 104.57.183.127. They have been reverted by a couple of users so far as they contradict the sources on the page. The image of the newer model year is used as it is more prominent and distinguishable among the various years. The vehicle production years are determined based on manufacturer assignment in the US. The years are not determined by what year they are produced in but the model year assigned my the manufacturer as that is how the vehicles are assigned and designated. This is an open forum for discussion should the IP want to discuss the changes they are trying. Please refrain from edit warring. Kbhatt22 (talk) 14:47, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
Critical reception of 2021 model
editHi Vossanova! You undid my beginning of a critical reception section for the 2021 model, with the summary "seems like the reviewer had a bone to pick about large vehicles in general, of which the 2021 Escalade is definitely not the first". I agree the reviewer certainly doesn't seem like a fan of oversized SUVs, but he's the clearly reviewing the 2021 Escalade in particular, so I don't see any issues with specificity. You could go further and argue that Hawkins doesn't seem like the sort of person who would ever buy the 2021 Escalade, but I think that's actually a plus. As a general-interest encyclopedia, it's incumbent on us to document a wide variety of perspectives in reception sections, not just receptions from a niche group (i.e. people in the market for oversized SUVs). The 2021 Escalade has earned a unique amount of scorn from pedestrians and other road users, and Hawkins' review documents that sentiment. His review should of course be placed alongside other reviews coming from other angles to form a fully balanced section (just as we have for previous models), but I'll leave that part to other editors with more automotive expertise than me. For now, for the sake of not demolishing the in-progress house, I'd like to see the stub section restored (perhaps with a {{Stub section}} tag to denote the incompleteness). {{u|Sdkb}} talk 04:58, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
- Seeing that Vossanova has ignored the ping and edited elsewhere, I am restoring the section. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 14:48, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
- Why is this section even here? Just for someone to share this one article they have a bias for? Was it andrew himself that edited it and included it? 173.216.71.131 (talk) 02:22, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
Escalade IQ needs its own page
editSince the standard Escalade and the Escalade IQ share absolutely nothing mechanically, the IQ needs its own page in the same manner as the Silverado and Silverado EV. It's not like the case of the BMW 7 Series and i7, which are both the same vehicle, but the latter is powered by electric motors.
I saw that a page was created for the Cadillac Escalade IQ. However, it's a redirect page which leads back to this article, which it shouldn't be. Can I just edit said page to make it a standard article, or does something technical have to be done beforehand? Kaio mh (talk) 05:26, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- For now, I've started a subsection for the IQ on this page. It can be snipped out and pasted over the redirect page if needed. Cheers, Mliu92 (talk) 21:28, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Why did the Popular Culture section get removed?
editThat is truly idiotic, the Escalade was a staple piece of 2000s celebrity culture 2600:1012:B1C4:1882:C841:AC14:61B5:92B6 (talk) 19:25, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
- It was a valid concern, as the WP:CARTRIVIA policy advises against lists of TV, movie, and video game appearances (unless they're directly related to the car's popularity or sales). However, there are many sources about the Escalade being a general pop culture icon, which in itself is noteworthy. So I kept that part. --Vossanova o< 03:22, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
