Charles Horn
There seems to be an ongoing revert war surrounding the paragraph for staffmember Charles Horn. This is silly. Could we please discuss this here and attempt to work out a set of fair criteria for notability and inclusion in this article instead of simply fading him in and out of existence at will? -Clueless (talk) 00:53, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- I made a change that reflects legacy without the axe to grind. Including the statement, "fired without notice," is the cause of all the ire. Can we leave it stand in some version of the current form as of April 3, 2008? Norcalal 05:03, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Additionally, I do not dispute that there may have been some unfortunate politics in the matter, but and encyclopedic reference is no place to play that out. Norcalal 16:21, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Looks good to me! I hope it's acceptable to the anonymous editor that added him in the past. -Clueless (talk) 17:12, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Still a problem
This is continuing to be an issue. It seems that the offending edits are coming from a single IP address. That anonymous editor was notified of this discussion a few weeks ago but has so far chosen not to participate. Does Wikipedia have administrative/mediative procedures in place we can pursue so this doesn't keep happening? -Clueless (talk) 16:00, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- The fact that the editor in question has no account is telling. There is no way to get a "number" (IP address) this persistent in its bitterness and anger and disrespect for the community and this article to participate in a mature resolution. Perhaps, if this is the person who was let go for some reason, we now have an idea as to why. Norcalal 05:03, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

John W. Powell
In the Noted Faculty list at the end, there is a reference to a pholosopher by this name, and accoding to the Humboldts State University website, there is such a Professor Emeritus, but if you follow the Wiki link, it takes you to a very different person (a journalist accused of sedition in the Cold War) who never lived or worked in the Humboldt area.21:01, 30 December 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lamabillybob (talk • contribs)
I removed the refrence to Powell. I also removed Richard Stull, whose only google result is his personal website. I added Sam Oliner, published authoer, HSU professor, and Holocaust survivor. BoosterBronze (talk) 18:28, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Recent Bus Crash
I wanted to get other people's opinion: Should we include a brief section in the HSU article about the bus crash that was on the way to Humboldt State to tour the campus? I know it affected some HSU employees (an admissions recruiter was killed) as well as prospective students and many adults. I feel this is a fairly notable event. Thoughts?--Uwatch310 (talk) 16:58, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, but let us wait until all those who died have been identified and for sure all families notified. There was a very good article in the New York Times today here, which described something not mentioned in the local Humboldt County media - that many of these students are from families without history of college, and mentions how the program has been going on for decades. I think that information could be incorporated as well. Ellin Beltz (talk) 18:04, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Jolly Giant not mentioned
There is no mention of the Jolly Giant, one of the most important buildings on campus, and the source of its name. David Spector (talk) 17:46, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi all, I just wanted to give a heads up that I will be helping out with the neutrality and citation issues with this site as part of an assignment for a history class. Thanks. Morgan03lewis (talk) 01:10, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
