editSorry if my form is wrong here, but ill make my suggestion anyways.
McCunn flew in with 500 rolls of film, 1,400 pounds of provisions, two rifles and a shotgun, but had not arranged for the pilot to pick him up again in August. He prematurely disposed of boxes of shotgun shells in the river; used the wrong emergency hand signals to a plane that had spotted him and waved the plane off; and waited too long in the season to attempt to walk out.
Now wouldn't it be just as relevant to say "He had not arranged for the pilot to pick him up December 7th" or "He had not arranged for the pilot to pick him up Wednesday" ? Or is August an important month for hunters and campers to get out of the Alaskan wilderness? K3vi0 (talk) 22:55, 2 April 2008 (UTC)k3vi0
- I figured it meant that he thought he had arranged for the plane to pick him up in August. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.189.188.90 (talk) 08:17, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Zendu (talk) 16:40, 19 April 2008 (UTC) Whats with the wife quote at the bottom of the page? Irrelevant to the article and not even in the block. I'm going to remove the marked for deletion thing, apparently at least 50 people care about this article, as seen here: http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_McCunn . 67.80.70.160 (talk) 08:12, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Film?
editI'm a bit frustrated because I looked for McCunn on IMDB and couldn't find any reference to him there, but I'm really quite sure that there is a film documenting his time in the wilderness, complete with him waving away the rescuers and later on realising his mistake. I must have seen it sometime in the late 80s or early 90es and only recognised the story now, having read this article. From all I remember it was a dramatisation, not a documentary -- perhaps with a different name for McCunn? Anyone know anything more? Trigaranus (talk) 00:50, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Are you thinking of Into the wild about Christopher McCandless?--68.184.246.3 (talk) 01:42, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
- Nah, it's not that one. It's really quite distinctly the McCunn story. Haven't found anything in the meantime. Trigaranus (talk) 22:59, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
