Discography as a writer
editCarole King should really have a list of not just music she performed, but also the songs she wrote (which may well be her greater legacy). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mukogodo (talk • contribs) 01:31, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
List of Songs Composed
editI would like to second the unidentified person who suggested that a list of songs written by Carole King would be interesting and informative. Especially if it identified those she wrote for other singers that she herself never performed later. Someone pointed me to a clip of a song called 'Early Morning Hush' she wrote for a singer named B. J. Thomas. Graham1973 (talk) 14:27, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
- I wonder why there is no mention of "Hard Rock Café" in the whole article. Can someone who knows background on this please add this song? Is there a reason why this song is not listed? Klausgraumann (talk) 09:59, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

Merge
editI oppose the proposed merge with A Natural Woman (book), a clearly notable topic, and would consider it a courtesy if Salimfadhley would withdraw the proposal at this time, especially since the tag was placed just ten minutes after I'd began the entry: there's hardly been an opportunity even to see what kind of entry could be developed and a merge discussion is premature. Innisfree987 (talk) 02:49, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- Sure, given that you are developing the article, please feel free to remove my merge tag. --Salimfadhley (talk) 04:23, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply, will do. Innisfree987 (talk) 05:28, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
"One" reworked in 2018
editArticle in The Guardian about CK reworking "One" with the US elections in mind: Carole King on songwriting in the age of Trump: 'I am the honest opposition' Esowteric+Talk 17:11, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
Start of "years active"
editLead says 1955, even though the body says nothing about anything King did in 1955. Infobox gives the starting year as 1958. Which one is right? Ilovetopaint (talk) 17:19, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Contradictory?
edit"King also wrote 61 hits that charted in the UK,[3] making her the most successful female songwriter on the UK singles charts between 1952[contradictory] and 2005.[4]"
Why contradictory? Add up the hits on the UK charts during 1952 - 2005 and see which female songwriter is on top. Just because Carole was only 10 in 1952, and thus probably not much of a songwriter, if a songwriter at all, in that year, doesn't mean that she wasn't the most successful songwriter during that period. Rock Hall

Rumor of Strong Left Hook
editRumor overheard night of 24 Dec 1998, Camp Doha, Kuwait, was that King had knocked out artist Jim Morrison with a single punch (possibly a wicked left hook). Ostensibly confirmed by SECDEF (William Cohen) who was also present at the time. King was silent on the issue, but body language suggested she agreed with the often repeated statement. Could someone with deep code knowledge check on why/how I messed up the citation order and please fix it?
editI made a small edit, changed 25 million to 30 million with a citation, but I don't know enough to fix the messed up order of citations that I've just noticed. So I apologize PROFUSELY for messing up the syntax, I've never seen syntax this complicated. Luxfornow (talk) 14:18, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
- Luxfornow, there already was a reference with "ref name=":0". Drmies (talk) 14:21, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
- OK! I need to study more about the actual meaning of :0
- Many thanks @Drmies Luxfornow (talk) 22:10, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Ha, it's not an emoji, Luxfornow. If you click on the diff you will see that I replaced your <ref name=":0"> with <ref name=latimes>. I don't know why you put that in there; perhaps you copied what you saw in the code, or perhaps you used some tool that named the reference, and the tool didn't know that there already was one reference with that name. In brief, you can name references so that you can use them more than once without having duplicates show up in the reflist. WP:REFNAME gives you more, and more technical, background. Happy editing, Drmies (talk) 22:40, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Ha! No I didn't put that in there. I copied what I saw in the code, thinking it was some sort of checksum like "all references start here" but if I typed it in somehow, it was just a fatfinger error. Thanks Drmies for suggesting WP:REFNAME, I will bookmark it for whenever I need to brush up! Luxfornow (talk) 19:47, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
