Notability
editI understand that there is some concern about the notablity of Caroline Kaufer. I've added some more references to the article and believe that it now meets Wikipedia criteria for notability. The Kaufer Fund gives money to research a very rare form of cancer, and the donation was quite large--over $1 million. These two facts together give a great deal of notablity to Ms. Kaufer. In addition, the Fund continues to fund cancer research meaning that its importance is not a one-off event limited to 2005.
As far as citations, I've expanded this. There are two independent articles that deal with the Kaufer Fund donations: Paretsky and Ruder. There is the obituary in a national newspaper, The Jewish Advocate. And there are, so far, four references in publications of leading cancer research institutes to the Kaufer Fund donations.
I believe that the article meets the three criteria of Wikipedia content policy: verifiability, neutral point of view, and no original research. ("Verifiability is one of Wikipedia's three content policies. The other two are Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view." Formal verification) Given that notablity is a content guideline rather than a content policy, I think that this article passes the test for inclusion in Wikipedia.
