Merging with GC Stadium
editIsn't Gold Coast Stadium going to be the name of the new stadium at Robina? If so, the two articles should remain separate.--dan, dan and dan 07:11, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
I disagree with merging with Gold Coast Stadium. Gold Coast Stadium is about the new stadium at a different location. --WikiCats 12:14, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
Gold Coast Stadium is actually a name prominently displayed at the current Carrara ground on the main stand and the Gold Coast Stadium article identifies that they seem to have the same name. But, in any case, my point is that there is considerable content mirrored on both pages and neither is very clear. Perhaps a merger is not required so much as some editing. Alternately, given that they have the same name, there could just be one with the future and present stadium under the name Gold Coast Stadium, with Carrara Stadium redirected. SM247 03:38, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
I would agree to have Carrara Stadium as a redirect to Gold Coast Stadium. --WikiCats 05:59, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- Keep - They are different stadiums. If there is a name confusion over the two, put a disambiguation link at the top and write what each one is. Simple. (JROBBO 11:35, 28 April 2006 (UTC))
- Oppose merge They are different stadiums...Cvene64 14:40, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think sufficient editing has occurred to remove any issue there may have been. I've taken down the proposal to merge. SM247 01:42, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Gold Coast announcement
editThe Titans entry to the NRL has been in the planning since 2001. There is no causal relationship (in the direction implied) in the text that was added to the page.--dan, dan and dan 07:08, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Links
editI have attemped to minimise the number of links on this page. Generally, I have left the first one and removed subsequent links. If you think that I have been overzealous, please correct, but with caution. There were a million on this page.--dan, dan and dan 04:46, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
North Melbourne's tenancy
editIs a note required to explain their partial tenancy? Otherwise, casual browsers may be inclined to think a club in Melbourne plays out of the Gold Coast, and think that it is an error.60.226.133.172 11:42, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

AFL crowds
editFor some reason when there is a (very) poor AFL crowd nobody bothers to list it. Weird. Anyway, I have added that absolutely ordinary crowd that the Lions drew down on the coast. Third rate stuff, to be sure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.171.93.29 (talk) 02:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Ditto again today. Another rubbish AFL crowd, none of the usual AFL editors rushing in to record it. Is Wikipedia meant to be a PR device for Victorians? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.171.93.29 (talk) 00:41, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- I recently did a rewrite of most of York Park which involved removing the schedules (as unencyclopediac) and consolidating the crowd records into a more reasonable space. It might be an idea to do the same here. It isn't necessary to have every single fixture and crowd. -- Chuq (talk) 13:34, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Cricket ground
editCarrara Oval redirects here - does the stadium occupy the site of the cricket ground most famous for David Gower's biplane flight? If anyone with a bit of local knowledge can confirm it, I'll add a section - plenty of newspaper sources for that! --Bcp67 (talk) 20:44, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Not a "regular" cricket ground (yet!)
editThe intro previously said The venue is primarily used for Australian rules football and Cricket. It serves as the home ground of the Gold Coast Suns, who compete in the Australian Football League, while also regularly hosting Big Bash League matches. As of this moment it has hosted ONE recorded cricket match (a T20 last month b/w Australia and South Africa). That will increase to 4 after the upcoming BBL season. Granted Gold Coast may get a team and play here if/when the competition expands, but until then or until more international matches are played don't place cricket on the same level as Aussie rules in the intro.
