Name

edit

Don't know if the full name i inserted, Carlos Henrique José Francisco Venâncio Casemiro, is correct, but if it is not, please correct it and sorry for any inconvenience. ALL sources but one (BDFUTBOL.com) say his full name is only Carlos Henrique Casemiro, so maybe i'm wrong.

Attentively --AL (talk) 19:41, 19 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

The exact full name is Carlos Henrique Casimiro. The source is the following document of Associação Paulista de Futebol: Picture --VAN ZANT (talk) 09:31, 28 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
That's really weird. If his name is supposed to be spelled "Casimiro", why is he always referred to as "Casemiro"? – PeeJay 14:54, 12 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Quite A Character:, as the full name was added by you, and a @213.27.205.116: keep removing it from enwiki and commons-wiki, where did you find the source of the fullname? Matthew_hk tc 15:38, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
CBF and Associação Paulista de Futebol: used "Carlos Henrique Casimiro" only. Matthew_hk tc 15:41, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I only knew about BDFUTBOL as a source, but now i searched the web and found this (https://brasil.elpais.com/brasil/2017/06/04/deportes/1496603217_401643.html), it's 100% reliable. I'll add it to article. --Quite A Character (talk) 15:41, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Read this passage: "Seu nome verdadeiro é Carlos Henrique Casimiro. Começou jogando como Casimiro, mas um dia, no Brasil, estamparam seu nome na camisa equivocadamente, e ele entrou em campo como “Casemiro”". It was a printing error on his shirt, and it remained in the future. --Quite A Character (talk) 15:42, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Quite A Character: i mean the middle name and maternal surname, is that fine to remove them? leaving "Carlos Henrique " + "Casemiro/Casimiro" Matthew_hk tc 15:49, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I think we could leave it be like that for the moment, i'll ask User:MYS77 (Brazilian) if he can bring something extra to the discussion. --Quite A Character (talk) 15:51, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Way too many Brazilian articles list him as Carlos Henrique Casimiro. [1], [2], [3], while this one (Spanish) list both names. I would trust more in the short one, but I need to check some match report at CBF or FPF to make sure which one is correct. MYS77 16:06, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
RFEF and FPF use this naming convention too. MYS77 16:10, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

OK, thank you both for your participation and work. I am not going to remove anything yet, but i vote in favour of taking "José Francisco Venâncio" out, not supported by any source. When/if that happens, i'll notify BDFUTBOL to make the correction too :) --Quite A Character (talk) 16:20, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Backed up by sources provided here, I removed the unsourced part of his name. MYS77 18:05, 17 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Casemiro's Transfer to Manchester United

edit

Hi team, A very good morning to you, just wanted to inform you guys about a change in Casemiro's wiki page , that he recently got transferred from real madrid(which is showing in wiki right now), to Manchester United (i.e- change in current club of the player) Thanks. 2405:201:6:D15B:3C4B:332A:5A3A:CFEA (talk) 21:14, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

They agreed on a transfer but it is not official yet as the medical has yet to take place and him signing the contract. Kante4 (talk) 21:24, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
My issue with this bit of the page is that it is currently stating that it was announced on the 20th August - despite it not yet being the 20th August, and both of the sources listed saying 19th August on the page of the source. NGS404 (talk) 22:50, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
The date is fixed. It’s possible it was already Saturday on the editor’s time zone. Adeletron 3030 (talkedits) 23:10, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Change the club

edit

He obviously moved to Manchester United already. 185.108.170.57 (talk) 03:48, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

He has not. Here's an article from Manchester United's official site that reads, While the transfer is still to be officially confirmed, Real have taken the opportunity to pay tribute to the midfielder’s contributions during his time in the capital. He still has to come to Manchester to work out personal terms, his UK visa and pass a medical. Adeletron 3030 (talkedits) 14:14, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Possible Improvements

edit

1) His Club Career who'll have more information especially in the Real Madrid sections to show his considerable influence in the team.

2) He has totally reformed Manchester United in his time there, this should be reflected.

3) Some links do not work. Scientelensia (talk) 13:27, 29 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Do you think the edits here under Manchester United should be added?

Your edits read like it’s a football magazine not a Wikipedia article. I’ve never seen this afforded to any player past or present with quote boxes. It just isn’t suitable. RossButsy (talk) 12:37, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Here are some examples then:
Lionel Messi#2003–2005: Rise to the first team
Lionel Messi#2005–2008: Becoming a starting eleven player
Lionel Messi#2009–10: First Ballon d'Or
Lionel Messi#2012: A record-breaking year
Lionel Messi#2013–2014: Messidependencia
Lionel Messi#2016–17: Fourth Golden Boot
Cristiano Ronaldo#2003–2007: Development and breakthrough
Ronaldo (Brazilian footballer)#Cruzeiro
Ronaldo (Brazilian footballer)#1999–2002: Recurring injury problems
Steve McManaman#Popularity and Legacy
Pelé#Legacy
Steven Gerrard#2004–2007: Champions League and FA Cup success
Martin Škrtel#Style of play
Harry Maguire#Style of play
You say it “isn’t suitable” but you have said nothing other than “ Your edits read like it’s a football magazine not a Wikipedia article”, but the only things added was Casemiro commenting on his desire to get Manchester United back into form and Ten Hag’s analysis of him. Perhaps it is the colour of the quote boxes which vex you? If that is the case, please change the colour. Scientelensia (talk) 19:34, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

YOU made the edits I reverted you. It’s up to you to start a discourse and make a proper case for why it should remain. I noticed you’ve also done this across several articles. RossButsy (talk) 21:03, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sorry if I offended you, but I have just made a case. As you can see, I actually started this discourse as a new section on this page as you instructed me “if you have an issue take it to talk page” (also what specifically do you mean by saying “you’ve done this across several articles”?). Here are my points if you feel you have authority to preside over this (by the way, if you feel at any point I am being sarcastic, be assured that this is not the intention):
1) Here are some examples of quote boxes in club careers, so now you have “seen this afforded to any player past or present with quote boxes”. You can see that I think it may not be right that “Lionel messi and Cristiano Ronaldo aren’t afforded such quotes in their articles”.
Lionel Messi#2003–2005: Rise to the first team
Lionel Messi#2005–2008: Becoming a starting eleven player
Lionel Messi#2009–10: First Ballon d'Or
Lionel Messi#2012: A record-breaking year
Lionel Messi#2013–2014: Messidependencia
Lionel Messi#2016–17: Fourth Golden Boot
Cristiano Ronaldo#2003–2007: Development and breakthrough
Ronaldo (Brazilian footballer)#Cruzeiro
Ronaldo (Brazilian footballer)#1999–2002: Recurring injury problems
Steve McManaman#Popularity and Legacy
Pelé#Legacy
Steven Gerrard#2004–2007: Champions League and FA Cup success
Martin Škrtel#Style of play
Harry Maguire#Style of play
2) The only things I added was Casemiro commenting on his desire to get Manchester United F.C. back into form and Erik ten Hag’s analysis of him. I am not sure how you find this annoying to read as I believe it improves readability but if there is some mistake, please tell me. Once again, if the colours vex you as they are quite flashy, just tell me and I can change them.
3) It’s hard to use figures and the odd goal scored to demonstrate a player’s impact on their club, thus, the quotes seen here (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Casemiro&oldid=1136298619#2022–2023:_Immediate_impact) solve this problem. I’m not sure if you follow or watch the Premier League, but if you do, you’ll know what I mean. Scientelensia (talk) 21:38, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

The Brazil national team’s article says Danilo is the captain of Brazil and so does Danilo’s page. Do we change it? 27.96.194.192 (talk) 06:16, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
