Chūō Rapid Line → Chūō Line (Rapid) — Use naming style used by JR East and as also used for Sōbu Line (Rapid) article — DAJF (talk) 08:41, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea. 210.154.111.178 (talk) 17:35, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

- Support - per comments below regarding station signage and consistency with the Sobu Line. I think that signage should be given much higher weight than web pages, since it is likely to come under more strict review by the respective company before publishing (painting). Discussion
edit- Any additional comments:
- Do we have references for what JR calls it in English? ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 01:16, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- They're inconsistent. Their route map at http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/info/map_a4ol.pdf has the label "Chūō Line [Rapid Service]" (with macrons and "Rapid"). Please, let's not use square brackets. Their Guide Map for Tokyo Station at http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/stations/e1039.html has "Chuo Line for Takao" (no macrons, no "Rapid") for Tracks 1 and 2. Their Guide Map for Shinjuku Station at http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/stations/e866.html has "Chuo Line,Chuo Line for Tokyo (Rapid-service Train)" for Tracks 7 and 8 and similar line names for 11 and 12. Fg2 (talk) 01:29, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- As mentioned by Fg2 above, the official literature published on the web is inconsistent, but all actual station signage uses "Chūō Line (Rapid)" as standard for the "orange" services, using "Chūō Line" for the "blue" long-distance services. Note that in the case of Tokyo station, tracks 1 and 2 are also used by some Chūō Line limited-express services, so they are not used exclusively by "Chūō Line (Rapid)" services. --DAJF (talk) 01:37, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Although additional inconsistency doesn't add up to consistency, it's good enough for me. I'd be very happy with "Chūō Line (Rapid)." Fg2 (talk) 01:45, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Late night trains using both Chūō Line (Rapid) and Chūō-Sōbu Line
editWhile visiting Tokyo area this month, I ended up aboard late night eastbound train at Toyoda. The train switched to Chūō-Sōbu Line tracks at Mitaka, and stopped on every station after that. I jumped off at Shinjuku, so I don't know where the train headed next. The train was E233 series trainset, normally used on "Chūō Line (Rapid)".
This article nor Chūō-Sōbu Line article mentions this behaviour. Nor do I know if this is worth mentioning, for that matter... I'll let you smarter people decide. :) 88.112.39.11 (talk) 23:23, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
