Opening date

I would like to give a more exact opening date than a simple "1993". Unfortunately, the station isn't listed in Butt, which is supposed to be correct to end of 1994. --Redrose64 (talk) 16:13, 29 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

The station opened on 30th May 1995, according to Joe Brown's London Railway Atlas (6th edition, Crecy Publishing, 2023). Best, Sunil060902 (talk) 17:55, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

National Rail shows the station as "Chafford Hundred Lakeside" and c2c's timetable shows "Chafford Hundred (Lakeside)". --TBM10 (talk) 09:39, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Is it possible for this article to be headed with the correct station name now carried since it was officially renamed? Xenophon Philosopher (talk) 14:22, 24 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

It was correctly named, until Ritchie333 (talk · contribs) moved the page just under a year ago. I can't find where that page move was discussed. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:51, 24 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

The correct name is Chafford Hundred railway station. See c2c's own map, accessed 4th January 2024: https://www.c2c-online.co.uk/stations-and-services/before-your-journey/our-routes-and-stations/ best, Sunil060902 (talk) 17:44, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Sunil060902: Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (UK stations), the name should be what the station's signage actually says. Do you have evidence that the word "Lakeside" is no longer shown? --Redrose64 🦌 (talk) 23:07, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello Redrose64 and all. I wanted to see for myself, so visited the station today, for the first time since the Pandemic. I have already uploaded some pics to Wikimedia Commons, [1], and I reproduce thumbnails below.

So, an open and shut case, right? Except for this one sign (just one!), in National Rail "house" style:

Anyway, that's the signage evidence available, so really five signs against one in favour of plain "Chafford Hundred". Hope I've presented the evidence in as neutral fashion as possible. Best, Sunil060902 (talk) 16:17, 5 January 2024 (UTC).Reply

I wonder if the page at http://www.basildon.com/history/railway/railway.html is good enough to reference the opening date as 26 May 1995? --Minoa (talk) 19:10, 30 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've seen 30th May 1995 in Joe Brown's London Railway Atlas, though he also says in the index that there was a "ceremony" on the 29th. Presumably no passenger trains ran that day. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 16:28, 5 January 2024 (UTC).Reply
