1978 new route: Zurek, not Wolf
editThe fourth member of 1978 new ascent was really Krzysztof Zurek (not Jan Wolf – both existing strong climbers and both Polish)
Details: In edition from 25 June 2009, 03:45 (by the user Ratagonia) in the section Notable ascents the 1978 new route was added but with mistaken the name of the 4th participant of the team (as Jan Wolf). In the reference added in the same edition (John Porter's article Bandaka and Changabang from AAJ 1979, pp. 29-35, on the page 31, line 7) really appears Jan Wolf but as a participant of the 1977 expedition on Bandaka; in 1978 expedition on Changabang the 4th participant was Krzysztof Zurek, see p. 35 (Personnel) or impressive photographs, especially p. 32, the Plate 16, K. Żurek led on the headwall of Changabang).
The name was properly corrected to Zurek on 25 July 2009, 3:37 (by the user Krzysztof Zurek, probably Żurek himself) but then reverted as unsourced change on the 25 July 2009, 14:30 (by user Spireguy). (It seemed not good that Zurek corrects to Zurek), however, that revert seemed to been too quick and "unsourced" itself: at moment the relevant reference to mentioned annual AAJ 1979 was included in the article; it was also easy to check the names of the team in the same entry Changabang of German or Polish wikipedia (or English entry Wojciech Kurtyka) or try to access the mentioned AAJ annual, its internet version via the AAC webpage (AAJ 1979, John Porter: Bandaka and Changabang, pdf file, see especially Plate 16, p. 32, p. 35). There are also other articles about the 1978 ascent in English, for example John Porter's Changabang South Buttress, Climbing, No. 55, 1979, and South Side Story, Mountain, No. 65, January/February 1979.
The mistaken name (and revert) was corrected and external links to the AAJ (and some photograph of the 1978 team) added.
This post in discussion was added to avoid any future problems (or even unsourced reverts) with the name of 4th participant of 1978 new route.

Thanks for the clarification, and the correction. Ratagonia (talk) 03:32, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
