Including Chet Baker in the already existent category "American jazz musicians"
Hi Guys:
I was browsing through many American jazz musicians, and at Charlie Parker's page, I found he belongs to some Wikipedia categories, including American Jazz Musicians [1], and although it's not very well sorted (ok, sorted by name, and letter, but unsorted inside each letter - even though very useful), it has some names over there that would be of good improvement to Chet Baker's page to belong to that link.
Especially when the first line of Chet Baker's page starts with Chet Baker is an American Jazz Musician. it could be a hyper link to the index, instead of linking to United States or to Jazz only.
Hope this is useful for you.
Cheers

The image Image:Let's get lost poster.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. Influence
I'm not qualified to write this section, but it would be nice to see a discussion of his influence on jazz both in his heyday and on musicians who followed.

- Roger, you don't have to be qualified to write. If you can find some sources, you can quote and reference them. Let the experts who have already discussed this speak. That is what Wikipedia is about. --Michael Johnson 00:59, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Court Filing against Record Labels in Canada by his Estate, and Settlement
Would it be worth noting that Chet Baker's estate sued several record labels, and there was recently a settlement for $45 million?
http://www.michaelgeist.ca/content/view/5563/125/ for an article about the settlement and http://www.michaelgeist.ca/component/option,com_docman/task,doc_download/gid,27/ for the court filing.

- I think so. It's a complicated case, and is more about the Canadian record companies than about Baker, but his estate was the lead plaintiff in the class action. --jpgordon::==( o ) 20:58, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Dentures
You can clearly see from at least one of the videos on youtube that Chet Baker did NOT play with dentures. Can someone cite a reference verifying when and if he actually used dentures to play? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.190.56.24 (talk) 10:15, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
On a related issue he actually lost one of his front teeth when he was very young and this is one reason he didn't smile in photographs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.201.30.214 (talk) 07:13, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
In an interview about 34min in Chet Baker states himself that "the first real set back was in San Fransisco when I was jumped buy those five guys and I lose all my upper teeth. I had to stop playing well I did not stop playing I got a plate and I was determand to find a way they told me you know nobody can play with false teeth and I didn't go for that. There must be a way of doing it and I was going to find it. So I worked at it for three years. It was three years before I worked profesonaly after the Live Way insadent". I found this from watching Netflix. <Chet Baker:Live at Ronnie Scott's London 58m 1986 MUSIC & MUSICALS · JAZZ & EASY LISTENING> — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.74.214.253 (talk) 06:45, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Death
Friends of Diane Vavra know that Chet's death was a suicide. He was abusive to her. She left him and moved back to America. Chet wrote many letters to Diane saying that he would kill himself if she didn't come back. She didn't, so he did. I won't update the article text since I don't have possession of the letters, but I know people who have seen the letters and a person who has seen the suicide note. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.81.155 (talk) 01:18, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
Filmography
While watching Lets' get lost DVD supplements, more specifically the 1963 Tromba fredda short film, I noticed that only the Let's get lost documentary was cited in the article. I decided to mention Tromba fredda, and started to look for more informations here and there. Not much finds (nothing in the IMDB), except in the it:Chet Baker page, which I inserted as is, besides translation.--Olivier Debre (talk) 11:35, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Photo
I added the photograph of the monument. Thought I was logged in before I saw my Dutch account didn't work on Wiki English.
He left Oklahoma and never looked back
- Can we find a younger photo for the infobox? Baker emaciated and toothless doesn't seem like a fitting photo for a musician known for his movie-star attractiveness. --Smschrag (talk) 18:12, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- Fully agree, the current image is far from representative or appealing. Have added a needs-photo tag under Jazz above. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:44, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- @Smschrag I found a nicer photo of Chet by William Claxton, it should solve that issue. --Rainnelliott (talk) 17:50, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Well done, Rainnelliott, that's a big improvement. It's a good clean image. Unfortunate that he's looking down so much and is not with trumpet. Moan, moan, moan! But much better, thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:00, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- It would still be good to have a photo of Baker when young, especially since he was known for his good looks. The text reference to James Dean doesn't make much sense without an illustration.92.90.26.124 (talk) 10:36, 18 August 2015 (UTC)
