I suggest you do a little reading on the history of the Sino-Japanese WarTryptofeng 20:00, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
That wouldn't hurt either but, to stay on topic, better if he did some reading on the history of the Second Sino-Japanese War. — LlywelynII 13:20, 22 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Finding this film

edit

I have problems finding this film. The is a 1933 Chinese film known as Sons and Daughters of the Times ([1]), but the only name in common is one of the writers. Then I read in the opening titles of the YouTube video linked that the film was called Childern of Trouble Times (1935), for which I don't find an IMDb entry. I have Googled the title, but most from what I get seems to mirror our entry or simply relate the title to the song. I will tag the article for reliable sources. Move?

edit

After looking into it a bit, it does appear that "Sons and Daughters in a Time of Storm" is also known as "Children of Troubled Time." Or at least they share the same Chinese title: Fengyu ernü

This shows that the films have the same cast/crew (i.e. Xu Xingzhi, Yuan Muzhi, etc) Perhaps we should move it to the alternate title?Tryptofeng 16:54, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely. This is a terrible translation and, especially if it's not actually in use elsewhere, we shouldn't be getting people to use it. — LlywelynII 13:20, 22 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
So, looking at what this thing is actually called:
Fēngyǔn Érnǚ (actual pinyin) & Fengyun Ernü (toneless pinyin)
Fēngyǔn Érnǔ (bad Western pinyin) & Fengyun Ernu
Fengyun Ernv (bad Chinese pinyin)
Fēng Yǔn Ér Nǚ & Feng Yun Er Nü (really bad pinyin)
Fēng Yǔn Ér Nǔ & Feng Yu[n] Er Nu (ditto; He)
Feng Yun Er Nv (bad Chinese pinyin)
Sons and Daughters in a Time of Storm (wiki editors, Ma)
Children in a Time of Storm (other wiki editors)
Sons and Daughters in Troubled Times (Rojas)
Children in a Time of Trouble
Children of Trouble[d] Time[s] (Internet Archive, Chinese Movie Database, Zhang, Ye, Braester, Zhang, 1, 2, Yeh, Winzenburg, Fu)
Scenes of City Life (IMDB, but surely confused with this film)
Children of the Hour (LaFleur)
Young Heroes and Heroines in the Stormy Years (Ho, Law)
Children of the Storm (Chow, Wu, Wang, Ho, Lai)
Sons and Daughters in a Storm (Lai)
Sons and Daughters in Times of Turmoil (1)
The Sons and Daughters in Times of Turmoil (Ho)
Sons and Daughters of the Storm (Pang, James)
Children in the Storm (1, Howard)
Far[a]way Love (1, but surely intending this film instead)
Heroic Sons and Daughters (Guo)
Looks very messy but like we have a winner. — LlywelynII 14:13, 22 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
