Antártica → Chilean Antarctic Territory – The Spanish equivalent of Chilean Antarctic Territory is in Spanish speaking countries by far the most common name for the Chilean claim, and as English usage is scarce this should be normative. Also the name Antártica is misleading as it in Spanish refers to the whole continent. Dentren | Talk 11:20, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- Support, though not for the reasons the nominator gave. If English usage were really scarce, we should use the Spanish name, not invent an English name ourselves. However, it appears that "Chilean Antarctic Territory" is in fact the English name used for the claim. Ucucha 15:41, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- It's also parallel to the other territorial claims in Antarctica. —Tamfang (talk) 07:31, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Support, for the reasons given by the two editors above. Rennell435 (talk) 10:41, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
- Support. The name differs from the beer only by one accent mark. — AjaxSmack 21:59, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- You mean Companhia Antarctica Paulista? That also has a C in there. Ucucha 22:02, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmm...maybe so. I missed that seeing as I'm on my ninth one already. — AjaxSmack 22:23, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

commune vs municipality
edit- ... It is administered by the Cabo de Hornos municipality in the South American mainland.
- Within Chilean territorial organization Antártica is name of the commune that administers the territory. The comune of Antártica is managed from Puerto Williams ...
Are a municipality and a commune the same thing? How about management and administration?
The list of communes seems to say that CdH and Antártica are the two communes of Antártica Province. Are they both administered from Puerto Williams? —Tamfang (talk) 22:48, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
- Comune is the territorial entity and municipality is the entity in charge of administration. Each commune is administerad by a municipality in Chile. Anártica and Cabo de Hornos are unique in Chile in that they share municpality that administers both, this is likely due to logistical problems in having an operating municipality in Antarctica. Dentren | Talk 12:14, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
- How about: Antártica and the neighboring comune Cabo de Hornos are jointly administered by the municipality at Puerto Williams? —Tamfang (talk) 18:36, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Moving Commune Section to a new article
editI have moved the commune section of the article since this article it's about the Chilean claim in the antarctica, not of the commune. link — Preceding unsigned comment added by Janitoalevic (talk • contribs) 20:39, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
- Good work! That was exactly what was needed to streamline this article. Dentren | Talk 14:14, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
