Freeze Changes

The edit reversions first began around May 7th by anonymous IPs, then copied by accounts such as User: Frankdgreen linked to the subject article.

I recommend reverting and freezing on the version "https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Chinese_American_Museum_DC&oldid=1223588071".

This was the last stable version and restored by four other Wikipedia users User:Joyous!, User:C.Fred, User:TornadoLGS, User:CanonNi who also identified IP vandalism, followed by other users doing the same.

Older versions are problematic because they are all accounts by CAMDC itself or the sourced/cited itself. Such as director David Uy at User:LegalResearch345 2. This violates Wikipedia's terms of service.

CAMDC, Chinese State Media, and the Embassy of China in DC

Vandalism by CAMDC

Since May 7, 2024, CAMDC has been vandalizing this article, remove or otherwise trying to bury references to its use of state media outlets such as China Daily, CGTN, and SinoVision. All are designated foreign agents under the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

Vandalism first used IPs that haven't interacted with Wikipedia in over a decade. CAMDC then switched to accounts Johnj1995, Frankdgreen and GünniX.

The latest version was reverted to that Joyus! and C.Fred who have been active for decades, and first detected the anonymous IP vandalism, and then copied by the CAMDC accounts.

Sources and Association

The sources used for association with Chinese state media and the Embassy were the ones provided by CAMDC itself. CAMDC's first interview 5 years ago and posted on its social media is with SinoVision.

CAMDC has in its stairwell a copy of China Daily, where among other things the founder clearly states the intent and that the Embassy of China praised their efforts. This article is cited, archived, and there's a picture uploaded to its profile on Google.

Objectivity

The association with Chinese state media, United Front Work Department, and the Chinese Embassy in DC is fact. This is stated by CAMDC itself, and observed by it, repeated by state media, and by outsiders. Again there's a copy of China Daily that explicitly says so.

Prior to my original edits, all substantial edits on this article were from David Uy (the executive director) or various forms of 1882. They were copied and pasted from CAMDC's own website.

This was repeated with the continued vandalism by CAMDC to be the only authority on itself.

More concerning is that CAMDC is clearly more focused on the FARA association than the actual content in the museum. Because FARA aside, the original changes I made to what is in the museum were an improvement on what what is on display.— Preceding unsigned comment added by FarEasternMarket (talk • contribs)

Vandalism, Self Edits, and Conflict of Interest

CAMDC

On May 7th, 2024 CAMDC deleted introduction sections identifying that per its own YouTube channel and the museum itself, that early promotion was by People's Republic of China state media and designated foreign agents under the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938.

Previous article iterations, and article were essentially single source, self-edits, and self promotion, including by museum director David Uy. This is not objective and violates Wikipedia's terms of service.

Examples include the self proclaimed that the museum is "a bold undertaking". The only source is from CAMDC's website itself.

Furthermore even without the obvious foreign interference, the original article was not organized by exhibit, floor, or other events CAMDC sponsors. Even with identifying that CAMDC is part of the United Front Work Department, what I wrote was an improvement.

On May 17th, 2024, CAMDC again by unregistered IP deleted sections only pertaining to it's use of foreign agents under the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938.

On May 17th, 2024, "users" User:Johnj1995 and User:Frankdgreen deleted the same sections.

Johnj1995's oldest edits are mostly related to China, despite the semi-aged account. Frankdgreen is a new account.

The sections they deleted claim neutrality of sources. The sources are CAMDC itself. CAMDC cites it's own YouTube account interviews with SinoVision and CGTN. These are designated foreign agents under FARA. SinoVision is by definition United Front Work Department.

CAMDC also cites China Daily, which is sourced, where the founder Philip Qiu again cites that the Embassy of China in DC praised their efforts.— Preceding unsigned comment added by FarEasternMarket (talk • contribs)

Sources for CAMDC are all from CAMDC itself. China Daily, CGTN, and SinoVision are designated foreign agents under the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938.

CAMDC Philip Qiu is quoted in China Daily (cited) in a copy on display in the museum. The same copy quotes accolades by the Embassy of China in Washington, D.C.

Additions

If CAMDC is a museum dedicated to Chinese Americans, it is missing several groups, including those from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, and why they immigrated. FarEasternMarket (talk) 20:59, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

Vandalism

Changes made to the pages since April 18, 2024 by a certain user are largely based by an opinion published on the Hill on February 9, 2024. The changes are one-sided, and do not offer a balanced view. Moreover, many changes are simply allegations and innuendos, without any evidence to support them. Plagiarism

Changes made by FarEasternMarket are largely based by the opinion published on the Hill on February 9, 2024. FarEasternMarket used them as own idea and failed to cite the source. Frankdgreen (talk) 11:14, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Disruption

• User:FarEasternMarket, I don't understand what these talk page messages are supposed to do, and you didn't sign them. And you're suggesting that User:Johnj1995 and User:Frankdgreen are the same person? That's a pretty ridiculous suggestion, and you didn't format their user names correctly either. User:Frankdgreen, don't throw shade at "a certain user": name names and ping them. I am considering blocking both of you. You may be new editors, but that doesn't mean you can't just make false accusations and fight out an edit war in this article.   • User:Frankdgreen edits are the exact same as the IP vandalism that in particular targeted association with Chinese state media and the Embassy in DC. This vandalism was caught by two other long time editors. User:Joyous! or User:C.Fred This is despite it being sourced three times (China Daily, CGTN, and SinoVision) and by CAMDC itself. There is no debate on the association when CAMDC is making the association themselves, but this is what CAMDC appears most concerned about. User:Johnj1995 may or may not be associated, but quickly tried to bury User:Frankdgreen edits with quick minor ones. Looking at that user's history, many of the oldest articles are also China related. So my recommendation, if anything, is to restore to the User:Joyous! or User:C.Fred. Both caught the IP vandalism. • Update: I reverted to a much earlier version; recent edits completely disrupted the formatting and added what seemed like a list of random factoids/sentences. This needs experienced editors who know how to write encyclopedic content, who understand formatting, who are neutral, and who will explain what they are doing. Drmies (talk) 17:32, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
  • The problem with "a much earlier version" is that all of the edits prior to any I made were all by CAMDC itself and in many cases are straight copy pasted from its own website. The association with state-media and the embassy is cited multiple times, and using CAMDC's own words. My original edits also cleaned up CAMDC's rolling edits since the article's creation.     • Both of you are now blocked from editing the article for three months. FarEasternMarket, you're the worst, but Frankdgreen isn't much better. FarEastern, I might have left some of your stuff stand, and yes, the "earlier version" is full of primary material, but you also restored all that crap.
