Image caption

edit

According to the caption, the image shown of Christine was taken in 1995. This would make her 14, according to her cited birth date. Clearly, she is not 14 in this image, so I suggest it is removed unless it can be corrected (which would likely entail the verification of her birth date). Lunarwhisper (talk) 22:10, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The uploaded file has nothing to indicate her age, but assigning a specific year is WP:OR, so I suggest we just remove the date until and unless we have precise information. Rodhullandemu 21:24, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dating

edit

The statement of her dating Chris Moyles hasn't been referenced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.216.3.182 (talk) 08:06, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Its now referenced incorectly, she isnt dating moyles, i`ve just hear him interview her and apart from the fact that he is in another relationship she clearly wasnt interested in his flirting (which he does with most female guests). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.44.197.22 (talk) 08:11, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Protestantism

edit

The opening sentence of the article referred to the fact that she is Protestant, without reference. This has therefore been deleted as it is not relevant and not sourced. Kristmace (talk) 19:24, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
she went to blomfield collegiate school which is a protestant school —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.105.45.86 (talk) 21:00, 15 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

There are plenty of people who learn predominately about one religion in school but end up not accepting it as the truth. Just because she went to a christian school doesn't necessarily mean she's a christian. She could perhaps be agnostic. Pnelnik (talk) 18:44, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Anyway Protestantism isn't a religion - it's a generic term for religions with their roots in the Reformation. ie. Anglicism, Presbyterianism, Methodism etc. many of which have very different theological beliefs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.149.97.85 (talk) 17:00, 1 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

People from Bangor

edit

How can she be classified as being from Bangor when she was actually born in Ards? Safebreaker (talk) 20:31, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bangor babies were/are virtually all born in Ards Hospital. Hence most Bangorians have birth certificates with the place of birth listed as Newtownards.

Where was she born? Newry/Bangor(Newtownards) ping pong going on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.32.96.174 (talk) 10:33, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, almost every Bangorian was born in Newtownards, as thats the nearest maternity ward. That doesnt mean they are from Newtownards. I was born there, but grew up in Bangor! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.156.244.131 (talk) 22:23, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Then please provide a reliable source that says this; personal knowledge is not accepted here. --Rodhullandemu 22:38, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
She is often referred to as being from Newtownards; is that where she grew up? Jim Michael (talk) 00:52, 15 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Year of birth

edit

The article gives her date of birth as 1980, yet is categorised under 1979 births -- I can't see from the references which one is correct. 87.82.9.193 (talk) 18:36, 11 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Article now gives her year of birth as 1979, yet is categorised under 1981 births; IMDb states she was born in 1980! Someone please find proof of which year she was actually born in.Werdnawerdna (talk) 18:32, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Acording to an interview given on Radio One, she was born in 1980. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.216.2.227 (talk) 17:20, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Christine can't have been born in 1980. She started Queens University in Sept 1997, if she had been born in 1980 she would have started primary school at the age of 3!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Belfastgal (talkcontribs) 21:17, 4 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Some people do start university at 17. Mostly in Scotland (as far as the UK goes, anyway), but not universally. But does that mean that the year she skipped has to have been before starting school? -- Smjg (talk) 17:56, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

She didn't start school at 3, and she didn't skip a year during her schooling years either. I went to Uni with her which is how I know for a fact that she isn't 28. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.69.153.15 (talk) 22:59, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The section detailing her broadcasting career states that she began her career at Belfast Citybeat in 1995s. If she really was born in 1981 that would mean she started there aged 14. Surely the page should be edited to say she claims to be born in 1981 although this is highly unlikely for these reasons. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Damo1412 (talkcontribs) 16:50, 12 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Are we seriously meant to believe that picture is of a 13/14 year old girl? --hubare (talk) 15:58, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't rule it out, but since the image page doesn't give a date, I've removed the date altogether as original research. As for her date of birth, we can only go by what the sources say. Rodhullandemu 16:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

that chick is at least 31. she doesn't need to lie about her age, she's still hot —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.67.147.175 (talk) 18:10, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why is her DOB now locked at 1981. Clearly no one knows her correct DOB but it is obvious she is not 28 years of age, at the very least her age should be locked at 1979. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.16.139.3 (talk) 00:48, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I discovered this archive of newspaper articles, which list her age as 22 in 2001 and 24 in 2003, putting her at at least 30 now ( assuming a little selective truth wasn't going on even then) http://search.bnet.com/index.php?q=christine+bleakley+ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.23.158.150 (talk) 20:37, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Former air hostess?

edit

During one episode of The One Show, she was teased about being a former Air-hostess. Did she previously work for an airline? If someone can find some good citation, it should be mentioned in the article. Pnelnik (talk) 18:41, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes she was an air hostess! she worked for monarch airlines and was a hostess on one of my flights in 2002. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.20.211.53 (talk) 19:31, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sun tan

edit

Why is she so dark? Has she got some Spanish roots or something? I can't believe that is a fake tan... -188.146.92.117 (talk) 14:58, 6 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Stand-up comedy

edit

The article says she performed as a stand-up comedian in Channel 4's Comedy Gala but the article for that event says she was just a presenter in an item with Fonejacker. I didn't see the show so I don't know which is true but this doesn't sound like something she would or could do. Keresaspa (talk) 01:09, 5 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Photo

edit

The main photo of Bleakley looks dated and pre-One Show. She has gone much more "upmarket" since joining Daybreak. Perhaps an updated portrait could be added? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.150.68.36 (talk) 21:37, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Use of UK in infobox

edit

Anyone care to explain why UK is added to the infobox, quick look at Scottish people and Welsh people and it is not used to describe the birthplace of any of the notable people listed on these articles. One can only feel that it is done to push a POV. Mo ainm~Talk 09:38, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Have you any other objection than that other stuff exists? Was Christine Bleakley not born in the UK? Jon C. 09:46, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes she was born in the UK she was also born in Europe will we add that also? It's about consistency across articles which I'm sure I heard you argue for. Have you anything to add to why articles on people born in NI get UK added while England, Scotland and Wales don't? Mo ainm~Talk 09:50, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Is Europe a country now? Many articles for Scots, Welsh and, especially, English, have UK too. I'd support it across the board, but we're talking about Christine Bleakley's article right now. Jon C. 11:45, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Is UK a country? Mo ainm~Talk 17:56, 24 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes. And if you disagree, I suggest you take it up with the UN, not Christine Bleakley. Jon C. 08:13, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Consistency across articles is not a core policy. 212.183.140.52 (talk) 20:55, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
